The Chandler Limited REDD Mixing System is the first EMI recording console released in over 50 years, bringing the legendary sound of REDD, TG, and RS desks together in one fully modular, modern system. Developed over six years by Chandler Limited in collaboration with Abbey Road Studios, the REDD Mixing System lets you design your ideal console, small or large, tube or solid state, tracking or mixing without compromise. The REDD Mixing System continues the long legacy of revolutionary EMI recording desks. From the REDD.37 introduced in 1958, to the REDD.51 in 1964, and the TG12345 MKI in 1968, EMI consoles have shaped countless timeless recordings. Artists such as The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones relied on these desks, as well as iconic film scores including Raiders of the Lost Ark.
This 16-channel configuration available from Vintage King includes:
The TG MKIV Input Cassette combines a Class A TG2-style preamp with a four-band Curve Bender EQ. It features all Class A, transformer-balanced circuitry. The Control Room Monitoring Cassette provides monitor selection with up to seven user-configurable sources and selectable monitoring for busses, sends, master buss, aux, and external inputs. A discrete op-amp design provides ultra-clean monitoring. It features talkback routing to busses, sends, all, or audio out along with Mono, Dim, Mute, Mute L, Mute R, and Pole R (phase reverse) functions. The TG Buss Cassette provides two aux send amplifiers per buss cassette providing four busses and four sends system-wide. It features extensive gain staging using Coarse Gain, Fine Gain, and output faders making it capable of clean operation or smooth overdrive, similar to Chandler outboard mic preamps. The TG buss cassette uses six Class A TG2 (MKIV) circuits and is fully transformer-balanced. There is a switchable insert point for easy auditioning of stereo buss processing.
The modules are housed in the two rack frames which are installed into the upper two 12U rack sections of the included JamRacks Mastering Desk. These 12U racks are angled at 15 degrees. Two lower 4-space racks can be used to house additional outboard gear. A slide-out tray can be used for computer keyboard and mouse.
At its core, the REDD Mixing System reflects a deep respect for the craftsmanship and engineering principles behind classic EMI equipment. Each component is designed to preserve the character, tone, and musicality that made the original desks legendary, while allowing them to coexist seamlessly within a modern workflow.
The system supports multiple historical EMI circuit designs as interchangeable cassette options. Users can select from REDD tube circuitry, TG MKI designs featuring germanium transistors, or MKIV TG designs built with Class A silicon components, all within one unified system. The console fits anywhere twelve rack units are available and integrates easily into modern workstation or mastering-style studio furniture. From compact setups to multi-bay installations, the REDD Mixing System delivers classic sound with contemporary practicality.
