Earlier this year, Antelope Audio announced that it would make its first foray into studio monitors with the Atlas i8. The brand utilizes some of the same cutting-edge technology as its clocking devices and audio interfaces to ensure the monitor delivers an accurate, neutral, and transparent sound.

At the heart of the Atlas i8 are two 8" woofers positioned in a sealed isobaric configuration, which delivers tight and coherent frequencies down to 35 Hz. Coaxial drivers for the mid and high frequencies eliminate potential comb filtering effects, resulting in a smoother frequency response and improved clarity up to 20 kHz. This design also allows for a more compact size and horizontal positioning of the speaker, making them ideal for use in smaller spaces.

Atlas i8 features onboard DSP with FIR and IIR filters that ensure that the frequency response is as neutral and flat as possible. The end result is a deep and focused stereo image, with low distortion even at higher listening levels. All of this is driven by a powerful 400 W Class-D amplifier for a maximum SPL of up to 117 dB.

The AD/DA conversion required for the DSP processing is enhanced by Antelope’s renowned 64-bit acoustically focused clocking technology, which ensures accurate and jitter-free conversion. The AFC technology also contributes to the superior digital signal going in and out of the AES ports, while the 192kHz sample rate ensures the highest possible fidelity in the conversion process.

The Atlas i8 features a dedicated software control panel on its rear that gives further control of key functionalities such as volume, dim, mute, saving presets, and activating different modes such as Bass Extension or Two-Way. This allows users to customize their listening experience and achieve the perfect sound in any setting.

There is also an optional mounting plate that makes it easy to mount Atlas i8 monitors on the walls or ceiling for immersive audio setups. So whether you’re looking for a new pair of nearfield monitors for your home studio or a full Dolby Atmos mix system, the Atlas i8 studio monitors are worth checking out.

When it comes to controlling your monitors, Antelope Audio has developed a new tool for streamlining your set-up. The MRC Multichannel Remote Controller is a versatile hardware extension for your surround and immersive audio monitoring system. Designed to work with the Galaxy 32 and Orion 32+ Gen 4 interfaces, the MRC supports 23+ formats from stereo to 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos, making it an ideal choice for music and post-production studios alike.

One of the standout features of the MRC is its flexible and deep preset recall system, which allows you to quickly and easily recall your preferred monitoring settings for different sessions. This feature is particularly useful for post-production studios that frequently switch between different formats and workflows, as it helps to save time and increase productivity.

In addition to its preset recall system, the MRC is designed to provide a tactile feel and responsive feedback, making it easy to adjust your monitoring settings on the fly. The layout and buttons of the MRC mirror all major monitoring controls, including volume, mute, solo, and pan, as well as additional controls for switching between input sources and surround formats.
