Play, record, stop, fast-forward, and rewind functions are intuitively laid out to be easily accessible at all times, while the jog wheel provides super-smooth scrubbing and shuttling. A programmable set of secondary transport keys provides additional flexibility, giving you the option to use your own workflow shortcuts, such as jumping between markers. UF1 is fully compatible with all major DAWs, including Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase, Logic, and more.
The Solid State Logic UF1 features two high-resolution color displays for visual feedback: one 4.3" TFT LCD display above the main section and a smaller display above the fader. The larger display shows track names, parameter values, timecode, and even integrates with the SSL Meter plug-in to display peak, RMS, and K-System levels, analog-style VU meters, PPM readings, and more. The smaller display handles secondary functions such as gate and compression activity, EQ curves, and plug-in parameters. Both screens update in real time, ensuring you always have eyes on the most important information.
Engaging Master Mode configures the UF1 to act like the center section of an SSL console when you need to "zoom out" and focus on the big picture. The fader controls the master bus level while the jog wheel lets you scroll through your session timeline, and the multifunction encoders allow you to tweak global mix parameters. This mode also brings up the SSL Meter plug-in on the large display so you can quickly monitor overall output levels and stereo balance without touching the mouse.
In this mode, the Solid State Logic UF1 provides precise control at the channel level. The fader is assigned to whichever track is selected, the displays show the corresponding track name and plug-in settings, and the UF1’s multipurpose notched encoder switched to mouse wheel emulation for fine parameter adjustments.
