Product Description

The Sony C800G PAC is one of those mics that reminds you why you got into this business. It has a downright magical quality to that makes any instrument instantly come to life. This large dual-diaphragm condenser microphone uses a hand-selected 6AU6 vacuum tube, custom cooling system and external power supply to deliver the highest possible sound quality.

MODERN CLASSIC

The Sony C800G Pac is one of the most highly revered microphones of all time, a title typically reserved for vintage tube mics and pre-war ribbon mics. Sony released this modern marvel in 1992, and it quickly became a favorite of rap, pop and R&B vocalists for its bright, detailed sound. Artists like J. Cole, Dr. Dre and Eminem have been known to record using the C-800G. Kanye West even used it to capture his subdued flow on "Through the Wire".

The C800G Pac features two polar patterns: cardioid and omnidirectional. While the cardioid setting sounds great for recording vocals, the omnidirectional pattern excels at capturing room tones and ambient sounds, making it perfect for capturing acoustic instruments.

UNIQUE DESIGN

The C800G PAC is a rare contemporary classic, but it draws its inspiration from the vintage mics of yesteryear. Utilizing the same capsule design as the Neumann K67 large-diaphragm condenser mic, the C800G offers a silky, brilliant quality without a hint of harshness. The C800G also features a hand-selected 6AU6 vacuum tube, which provides pleasant analog warmth in the lower-mids to compliment the brilliant top end.

OK, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. What the heck is that radiator-looking thing hanging off the back of the mic? Much like a radiator, it’s a built-in cooling system designed to reduce internal noise and eliminate distortion. The C-800G boasts one of the most impressive noise floors of any mic, allowing it to capture intimate recordings with breath-taking detail.

SONY C800G PAC FEATURES:

  • Contemporary classic tube condenser microphone designed for the highest possible sound reproduction quality

  • High sensitivity of -33 dBV/Pa
  • Low noise and low distortion due to built-in cooling system
