The Shure SM7B is a large diaphragm, dynamic microphone that is great on every source. With the classic cardioid polar pattern, and nearly flat frequency response, SM7 series microphones have been a top choice for rock vocals, broadcasting, electric guitar cabinets, and drums, for decades.
The SM7B includes a custom yoke shock mount and captive stand nut, allowing easy installation in any broadcast or studio environment. The standard A7WS windscreen now ships with SM7B, and is removable for a more intimate recording. A close-talk windscreen is also included for broadcast or voice over.
The SM7B is built tough, but has a thin, flexible diaphragm, and three times as many turns of wire on its voice coil than the SM57/SM58, providing a very wide-range frequency response of 50 Hz - 20 kHz. Independent high pass filter, and mid-range/presence boost switches, allow you to customize the SM7B for any style of recording. With improved shielding, and air suspension shock isolation, you can easily prevent unwanted noise of electromagnetic hum from neon lighting, computer monitors, phone chargers, or other electrical devices in your recording space. SM7B is a mic locker staple in nearly every broadcast facility and recording studio around the world.
Shurly you’ve seen this mic on countless radio/tv/podcasts interviews and shows. There is a reason. This one and a few others in this genre of mics are the best of the best. It is know for needing a solid preamp or something equivalent, but there is a newer version worth checking out that helps out with that.
My favorite dynamic mic.
Thank you Vintage King!!
One of the standards for recording spoken word and some vocals. Great to have in studios large and small.
Fantastic microphone. Absolutely zero background noise, cleanest recording I've ever heard in person.
If you are familiar with the sm-7b take note that we paired our new one with a Soyuz launcher and got some great sounds. The launcher also game from the fine folks at Vintage King!
Great Microphone nice warm sound on any vocal. Rap R&B Country
You see these everywhere for a reason - If you're starting out and thinking "Should I get a different mic so that I'm not a copycat of everyone else?" Stop. You should get this mic first and then build out from here. If you don't have one and want your recordings to sound better than they do right now: 1. Practice 2. Buy a Shure SM7b.
Love this on vocals, love it on snare. Pair with a cloudlifter for full vibes. Even sounds pretty nice doing the Richard Swift method on drum overheads. Classic for a reason.
I have to say, if you don’t have this mic. In your collection, you’re missing out on a very versatile and robust microphone, tuff as nails and beautiful in its sound!
