Sennheiser MD 421 II Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

Studio and stage dynamic microphone with large-diaphragm, directional cardioid response and the ability to handle high sound pressure levels
MFR# 984

Product Description

In the 35 years since it was introduced, Sennheiser’s versatile and robust MD 421 has become a classic, and one of the company’s most popular dynamic microphones in the recording studio or on the road. The Sennheiser MD 421 II Dynamic Microphone continues the tradition, its large diaphragm, directional cardioid response and ability to handle high sound pressure levels making it the go-to choice for a broad range of instruments, including electric guitar, wind instruments (particularly brass) and drums, especially toms and percussion. Its full-bodied performance, clarity and switch-selectable low-frequency roll-off control also lends itself to group vocals and radio broadcast applications.

  • Glass composite housing and hardened stainless steel basket—rugged and durable
  • Five position bass roll-off switch—compensates for proximity effect
  • Effective feedback rejection
  • Clear sound reproduction
  • Easy handling due to pronounced directivity
  • Acoustic components enclosed in inner chassis—reduced sensitivity to dust and humidity
  • Internal bass tubes—accurate low-end response
  • Handles exceptionally high sound pressure levels

one of my favorite dynamic mics

Great mic.

I have 3 of these and wouldn't trade them for the world. My go to Tom mic, alternate guitar cab mic, or bass cab. Just does the job every time.

On the recommendation of Jacob from VK Just bought a set of 3 for my toms. Their everything I've read about and imagined. Powerful, punchy, in your face - can kiss the toms closely without breaking up

The 421 is killer on toms. Just the right amount of sensitivity so as not to pick up resonances and too much bleed. Takes EQ great..not to mention it takes a beating from stray stick hits year after year!

I would like to thank VK for the wonderful sales assistance, service and prices. This was my first purchase with you and it won't be my last. I only wish I'd discovered you years ago!

I had two Grammy wins this year - Ray LaMontagne & Carolina Chocolate Drops. Both made with help from Vintage King!

In almost 20 years in Pro audio buying, never did I receive a unit so well packed and exactly as described. Works flawlessly. The whole process has been so smooth. I will never hesitate to do business with you guys in the future and will recommend you to everyone I know.

This was my first experience buying something from Vintage King (although I surf the "used" categories on the website frequently!), and, despite being on the other side of the world, I had absolutely no trouble and everything went very smoothly.
