CEDAR Audio DNS 8S 8-Channel Dialogue Noise Suppressor

Following in the footsteps of their existing DNS processors comes the CEDAR Audio DNS 8S, a noise suppressor designed specifically for live sound and broadcast where audio over IP isn’t required. The DNS 8S addresses live sound engineers' preference for using the AES/EBU digital audio connectors of CEDAR's existing noise suppressors to minimize latency for concerts and festivals, conferences and other live events. As such, the DNS 8S is the essentially the DNS 8D, but without Dante connection capabilities. The DNS 8S features AES/EBU I/O connectivity via DB25 on the rear panel.

With eight channels of noise suppression, the DNS 8S hosts a world-class algorithm that marries the best of the machine learning and signal processing on which the DNS 8D and the DNS 2 dialogue noise suppressors are based. And with its slick user-interface that includes standard and detailed modes of operation it offers excellent user control, both from the front panel and from a connected web browser.

The DNS 8S hosts the world-class noise suppression algorithm that you already hear (or rather, don’t hear) when it’s used to clean the FOH sound and monitoring for major artists including Ed Sheeran, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, The Jonas Brothers and Girls Aloud. It also provides the pristine sound that you hear when you watch the news and major sporting events on TV or go to see blockbuster movies at the cinema. With the same setup, processing and remote-control capabilities that make CEDAR's other DNS based hardware products so simple and elegant, you can use DNS 8S for any application where near-zero latency and retention of lip-sync is critical.

DB25 BREAKOUT CABLE

The DNS 8S comes complete with a high-quality AES/EBU breakout cable, which means that you can immediately connect its four XLR male plugs and four XLR female sockets to almost any other professional standard digital audio devices and be working within moments of unpacking. (But don’t forget to read the manual!)

FAIL SAFE OPERATION

In addition to its fantastic processing, the DNS 8S provides fail-safe AES3 audio bypass implemented in the form of hardware relays that immediately connect the inputs to the outputs in the event of a power failure or other significant disruption. This means that you can install it with confidence in critical paths anywhere within the audio chain. And, with its standard 4-pin 12VDC input in addition to universal mains power, it's suitable for use in all live situations.

CEDAR's Dialogue Noise Suppression technology is the standard for removing background noise from dialogue in studios. With near-zero latency, high-resolution processing, and a fast, intuitive user interface, it eliminates traffic noise, air conditioning, wind, rain, babble and general background noise from audio signals. It will also help to compensate for unfavorable acoustic conditions and poor microphone placement, and will even suppress excessive reverberation.
