Product Description
The HEDD TYPE 40 XTD is the dedicated active extension module for the TYPE 40 main monitor: a 10.75-inch woofer with 700W of DSP-controlled amplification. Closed-or-Ported lets you run it Closed for tight, precise, transient-focused bass, or Ported for higher SPL and punch. Cardioid mode cuts energy radiated toward the rear, reducing room-mode excitation in untreated or home rooms. Add one to three XTDs per side to scale the TYPE 40 system from a 30 sq m mix room to 100+ sq m spaces. Sold as a matched L/R pair.
THE TYPE 40 SYSTEM
The TYPE 40 System is a digital, modular monitoring system built around the full-range TYPE 40 Main, an active three-way reference monitor. Developed for studios that need a compact solution that can provide more output, low-frequency reach, and listening distance than near field monitors without the size and complexity of a traditional large-format main system. By combining the TYPE 40 Main monitor with up to three XTD modules, studios can install the capacity they need today and expand later, as needed, while benefiting from a range of features including cardioid bass control, closed or ported, and time-aligned monitoring.
CARDIOID BASS CONTROL
The TYPE 40 System offers cardioid configuration to reduce low-frequency energy behind the system. Rearward radiation can be reduced by up to approximately 10 dB. A single Cardioid Closed XTD provides directional control from approximately 20 to 200 Hz, while larger mixed configurations combine front-fire output with Cardioid control. Every XTD can operate in Closed or Ported mode. Ported increases efficiency and maximum low-frequency output for greater headroom and impact. Closed prioritises control, definition, and resolution, while providing Cardioid operation over the widest frequency range. Switching between modes is done with an aluminium sealing panel and rear-panel or software controls.
TIME-ALIGNED MONITORING
Onboard DSP for the TYPE 40 System means every Main monitor and XTD module is time-aligned with three available modes: 'zero phase' corrects amplitude, phase response, and time-aligns the drivers for precise transient reproduction and stereo imaging; 'flat' corrects frequency response without phase linearization; and 'off' provides the lowest possible latency for tracking and real-time performance. FULL CTRL
HEDD CTRL lets you manage all parts of a TYPE 40 System from the listening position and within one interface. It can be used to apply various settings automatically while also offering tools to adjust the system based on the room. Save presets for different workflows, formats, and listening positions with a simple click.
