Focal Sub12 13" Active Studio Subwoofer

The Focal Sub12 builds on the popular Sub6 in every way — it’s bigger, louder and features several design improvements that make it a powerful addition to Focal’s already impressive line of studio monitors. Thanks to improved driver and cabinet design and a robust power section, the Sub12 is capable of putting out deep, powerful bass from 400 Hz all the way down to 28 Hz at up to 124.5 dB with superb consistency and vanishingly low distortion.

Key to the Sub12’s impressive specs is its 13-inch woofer featuring Focal’s proprietary “W-cone” composite sandwich construction (also used in the new Solo6 BE and Twin6 BE). Composed of two layers of woven glass fiber surrounding a structural foam core, the cone is 20 times more rigid than Kevlar and much lighter. By fine-tuning the mass of the foam core, Focal has achieved the ideal damping characteristics to deliver powerful output with extremely linear performance.

When it comes to subwoofers, bass porting is just as important as driver design. A well-designed port allows air to flow freely and without turbulence, resulting in extended low-frequency performance and reduced distortion. The Sub12 features an extra-large laminar port on the bottom which works alongside the driver to produce rich, deep bass with clear and consistent output.

The subwoofer’s internal amplifier provides 600 W RMS power, with up to 1000 W peak performance. This allows the unit to produce sound pressure levels up to 124.5 dB with enough headroom to remain clear-sounding during even the most extreme bass drops. But the Sub12 isn’t just powerful—it’s versatile, too. Switches on the back allow you to adjust the low- and high-pass filter frequencies, volume, sensitivity and polarity to find the perfect balance for your mixing environment. Rest assured, this subwoofer will make even the fanciest monitors sound better with deep, clear bass extension.
