The Ex Machina Selene is Ex Machina Soundworks’ compact monitoring system, engineered for immersive and multi-channel workflows where consistency across every channel matters. A true coaxial design delivers stable imaging and phase coherence across a wide listening area, making Selene ideal for ATMOS and surround applications. Powered by the external EXCore amplifier and DSP, Selene operates as a complete, self-contained system per pair, allowing scalable multi-channel configurations without shared amplification or DSP complexity. Selene delivers professional accuracy in a compact form factor, serving equally well as immersive channels or high-performance stereo nearfield monitors.
WHY IT’S DIFFERENT
Most immersive systems rely on compromised satellite speakers for height and surround channels. Selene uses the same coaxial design philosophy, phase coherence, and calibration approach as larger Ex Machina systems, ensuring every channel in an immersive mix behaves consistently. Each Selene pair includes its own amplification and DSP, eliminating shared-system bottlenecks and simplifying scalable multi-channel installations.
As such, Selene is perfect for the following applications:
- Immersive and ATMOS monitoring
- Surround and height channel applications
- Compact stereo nearfield monitoring
- Mobile and traveling mix setups
- Multi-room or scalable studio installations
SYSTEM INTEGRATION AND CALIBRATION
Selene is powered by the external EXCore unit, which provides amplification, crossover integration, and system calibration for each speaker pair. Each Selene system is individually measured and calibrated to ensure consistent frequency response and phase behavior across channels. Pure monitoring DSP linearizes the loudspeaker itself rather than compensating for the room, ensuring honest playback and reliable translation. Over-the-air firmware and calibration updates allow Selene systems to improve over time as Ex Machina’s measurement models advance.
