Modeled after the world-renowned AKG C414 EB, the Peluso Microphone Lab P-414 breathes new life into a classic microphone. Equipped with the highest quality modern components, the P-414 offers the best of both worlds—vintage vibe and cutting-edge technology. The P-414 perfectly captures the detailed mid-range and shimmering high-end that made engineers fall in love with the original.
Designed to recreate the unique charm of the C414 EB, the P-414 uses the same brass dual-backplate edge-terminated 34 mm capsule as the original. In addition to replicating the undeniable sonic character of this beloved mic, the P-414 also features a number of modern innovations.
The P-414 is equipped with state-of-the-art components to ensure very low self-noise—an essential trait in any modern microphone. It also introduces a generously sized transformer, eliminating interference and distortion, while offering a more balanced output.
The P-414 is a part of a long lineage of classic studio microphones. As audio technology began to evolve in the 1970s, microphone manufacturers began replacing tubes with transistors. Developed as a successor to the legendary AKG C12 microphone, the C414 was originally introduced in 1971. However, the C414 has gone through many iterations—perhaps more than any other microphone in history.
One of the most highly sought-after versions of this fabled mic is the C414 EB from 1976—the first to feature the original CK12-style brass capsule. The EB also featured a brass grille and body, offering unparalleled durability.
The P-414 works well in every situation you would use the original C414 EB, and then some. The brilliant top-end sounds great on vocals, drums, acoustic instruments and more.
Package includes: P-414 Microphone, velvet bag, shock mount, and locking flight case.
We have a few Pelusos here at the studio, and the P-414 has quickly become our new favorites. I originally bought a pair for drum overheads and acoustic guitar, but it has become my go-to mic for vocals lately. Super smooth and understated top end helps to reduce sibilance, and I find the vocals i record need a lot less EQ-ing in the mix. Not as big or thick in the lower mids and bass as some mics, not to say that it's lacking, but If you need a mic to accentuate the lows to help thicken up a singer, you may need to look elsewhere. I would say that the low end response is more similar to current AKG414's than the Vintage ones. Overall this is a fantastic mic that just sounds expensive! and at this price it's an absolute steal. very smooth and natural top, tight and clean bottom. Sounds killer on drums, percussion and vocals. Go ahead and buy one (or two) you won't regret it
Great mic great customer service not much more to say but thanks :)
