With dozens of Ocean Way RM1 mics now in use for symphonic recording and vocals, the Ocean Way Audio RM1-B is a reimagined, no-compromise bi-directional ribbon mic with unprecedented low noise and true high-fidelity tone. A variety of refinements make it easier to use and sonically prettier, especially in the upper octave.

This mic lives up to the hype. The sound is natural and does not change from soft to loud. Excels on voices. Recording close (as in a foot, perhaps) has a nice "bing crosby" bottom that never gets in the way of the mids. Top end is, as advertised, extended and natural. Sibilance is almost always under control. It does not sound like any other mic in my locker. I have two desires of the current design: 1) The output, despite being actively driven, is pretty low compared to condenser. For example, my hottest condenser would be a Pearlman TM1. A 12" folk voice might well be recorded at 40dB of gain. The RM1-B might well require 54dB. Otherwise, I will not part with mic for a very long time.
