Neve 1073SPX Microphone Preamp/EQ

The world’s favorite mic pre/EQ produced to the original 1970-issue specifications with matching components and modern features for uncompromised sound quality
MFR# 1073SPX

Product Description

Since 1970, the Neve 1073 has been one of the most acclaimed preamps and EQs in the recording industry. The legendary sound has been the secret ingredient to some of the top recordings over the last 40 years, all due to its big and punchy sound that compliments any genre of music - from rap to rock to classical. Designed and built in England, the Neve 1073SPX offers the same sonic qualities as the classic Neve 1073, and is produced with the exact same specifications and matched components.

The 1073SPX features a Neve 1073 class A design microphone preamp and the classic three-band EQ, which includes a fixed high-frequency shelf, two selectable bands with boost and cut capabilities, as well as a high pass filter.

The 1073SPX now has expanded features to better fit with today’s recording industry standards. The front panel now includes an integrated DI input, insert that offers true bypass, input and output level meters, and an additional input connector that accepts microphone or line level for easy and direct connection.

The 19” rack-mount 1U unit includes an external multi-voltage PSU and an optional Digital I/O module is available.

  • Genuine Neve 1073 transformer-coupled microphone preamplifier/EQ circuit, in a single 1U 19" rack mount enclosure
  • Exclusive Neve Marinair transformers used on input and output stages
  • Convenient connections for Mic, Line & DI inputs on front of unit, with switchable mic/line input connections on the rear of the unit
  • Switchable +48 V Phantom Power, Hi/Lo impedance, -20 dB pad and DI ground lift on the input stage
  • Switchable Phase, and EQ in/out
  • Insert Send and Return loop feature allows external equipment to be connected easily to the 1073DPX audio chain, such as mono/stereo limiter/compressors;
    • Pre-EQ insert send/return - a line level send is available from the mic - pre amp  output stage and a return just before the EQ stage
    • Post-EQ insert send/return - a line level output send is available from the post EQ stage and a return just before the main output stage
  • Output level control
  • External multi-voltage PSU
  • Optional Digital I/O module

Top shelf mic preamp. I used it for vocals , DI for bass and mic on a guitar cab. Great sound on all sources. The diversity of the insert (pre or post) is ideal for patching in a compressor. I will be adding a second one soon.

This thing is amazing. Vocals sound great through it. eq is amazing and natural, very functional metering options and inputs on front and back are useful. The Insert point provides flexible routing options for your sound before conversion. With so many plugin emus and similar brands making 1073 versions, there is no substitute for the pride you feel in seeing that NEVE label on your 1073. With this you leave yourself no excuses for not getting the great professional competitive sound your looking for

Grainy, fat, character. Love the sound I get out of vocals from this preamp.

I've used clones in the past but there is nothing like the real deal. The Neve 1073spx is punchy, full and forward sounding. The addition of the insert along with the option to choose pre or post equalizer makes this a diverse unit. Thanks to Troy Manning for handling my account, and his knowledge of 1073's provided me with the information I needed to make a purchase. Looking forward to adding another one.

There’s not much to say, it’s Neve and it sounds absolutely amazing. Worth every penny! I just wish I had enough pennies to buy more.

The Neve 1073 SPX needs know introduction. It is simply
magic!! once a signal is ran through it. End of quote!

Everything I expected from Neve sound. The EQ makes it very versatile between styles and "insert" option is also great since I have few analog compressors.

I’ve Recored with the best pre amps money can buy , But I still come back to the 1073, I especially like the insert feature and output control for tracking purposes on the SPX . “Neve Tone” , just can’t beat it !!!!!

I had two Grammy wins this year - Ray LaMontagne & Carolina Chocolate Drops. Both made with help from Vintage King!

In almost 20 years in Pro audio buying, never did I receive a unit so well packed and exactly as described. Works flawlessly. The whole process has been so smooth. I will never hesitate to do business with you guys in the future and will recommend you to everyone I know.

This was my first experience buying something from Vintage King (although I surf the "used" categories on the website frequently!), and, despite being on the other side of the world, I had absolutely no trouble and everything went very smoothly.
