Neumann U 47 FET Condenser Microphone Collector's Edition
Product Description
The Neumann U 47 FET Collector's Edition brings back the unmistakable sound of Neumann’s iconic U 47 FET for the first time in over 45 years. Featuring FET 80 circuitry and a K 47 double large-diaphragm capsule, the U 47 FET painstakingly recreates the original specifications of the original U 47 FET down to the very last detail. This collection includes a wooden box, certificate, and operating manual.
THE RETURN OF A CLASSIC
The Neumann U 47 is one of the most beloved microphones of all time. Equipped with extremely pricey custom VF 14 tubes, Neumann halted production on the U 47 in 1965. A few years later, Neumann released the U 47 FET, a solid-state version of the U 47 designed to recapture the sound of the original. Thanks to its FET circuitry, the U 47 FET can handle much higher sound pressure levels than any tube mic available, allowing engineers to close-mic loud guitar amplifiers, bass amplifiers and kick drums.
ALL ORIGINAL PARTS
In order to recreate the sound of the original U 47 FET, Neumann has built the U 47 FET using the original production schematics. The U 47 FET uses FET 80 circuitry—the same technology found in the famous U 87—to achieve a particularly wide dynamic range, making it the perfect solution for miking loud sources.
The U 47 FET is also equipped with the K 47 double large-diaphragm capsule, which was used in the original tube version of the U 47. This color capsule provides an even, balanced tone with a slight boost above 2 kHz that makes the midrange of any instrument sing.
TONE-SHAPING FEATURES
The U 47 FET features a selectable low-cut filter to combat proximity effect when close-miking vocals or amplifiers. Switchable attenuation allows you to record even the loudest guitar amps without unwanted distortion. The fixed cardioid polar pattern and swivel-mounted bracket make recording vocals with the U 47 FET a breeze.
