The Focal Shape 65 Powered Studio Monitor is the largest available speaker in the Shape series, and is meant to be used as a highly accurate nearfield monitor for recording or mixing. Although the Shape 65 is designed to be used as nearfield speakers, they could pass for the main set of monitors at any facility due to their accuracy and attention to detail from the sub frequencies all the way up to the highest harmonic frequencies. There's also an adjustable high pass filter, so users can cut out low-frequency issues or help accommodate specific subwoofer setups.
Focal continues to lead the way in affordable nearfield studio monitors by combining breakthrough designs that they developed primarily for high-end models like their successful SM series. This Shape 65 loudspeaker is the 6.5" model in the Shape series, which brings top-quality Focal reference monitors to your home studio, pro audio editing suite, songwriting workstation, or other application where recording space is limited but the need for accurate monitoring is at a premium.
The Focal Shape 65 Powered Studio Monitor offers an M-shaped inverted-dome driver, cutting-edge flax-sandwich cone, MDF enclosure, innovative acoustics, and ideal electronics that all combine into a speaker that's completely linear and free from distortion. With its dual-passive-radiator design, users can comfortably place the Focal Shape 65s near walls or in corners, while still enjoying extended low ends that are still tight, controlled, and accuracy in a precision amplifier.
Ideal for mixing in a small room, the Shape 65 was designed without ports so they could be positioned against a wall without extra build up in the lower frequencies. They also include threads for adjustable ceiling and wall mounts to easily install in the optimal location. The Flax Sandwich cone allows for a controlled and accurate bass response and extremely detailed mid-range to upper mid-range presence.
The rear panel includes controls for a high pass filter as well as a three band EQ. The high pass filter can be set to three different frequencies, 45 Hz, 60 Hz and 90 Hz. The low band on the EQ is set to a shelf at 250 Hz which can be boosted or cut 4 dB. The mid-range control is a bell curve that can boost or cut 3 dB at 1.5 kHz. The high frequency is a shelf that can boost or cut 3 dB at 4.5 kHz.

Absolutely phenomental midrange clarity and sonic image. The passive radiators provide an immersive surround sound stereo field that greatly exapands the monitoring sweet spot in both good and bad monitoring environments. Highly reccommend.
Amazing monitors for the price. Low end and stereo image are great. Great for small-medium sized rooms
Amazing, detailed monitors. The auto-power-off thing is occasionally annoying, but not a deal-breaker. Otherwise, these is dream-kit.
Dave Fisks was incredibly helpful with this purchase and he was right to get them. I am a film, television and theatre composer in Los Angeles if something breakdown I need is ASAP. Dave knew everything about these speakers inside and out. He looked up some other hardware as well and priced them out. Best of all Dave worked in sound on movies. His expertise, quick turnaround, pricing and friendliness all a plus.
I love the Focal SHape 65. They are the best speakers I had. The sound is warm.
Incredible speakers. Coming from KRK's, you never truly understand what an upgrade like this sounds like until you plug them in. The clarity, stereo image and accuracy is some of the best I've ever heard and can already hear a difference in my mixes. Not to mention they're the best looking near fields on the market. Recommending these to anyone thinking of upgrading and stepping up their game!
These monitors are a fabulous value at this price point. I shopped long and hard to find these and I couldn’t be happier.
WOW! I was a bit skeptical for the first 24 hours. After the proper break in time these were simply amazing!! I can sit in front of these for hours.
Awesome reference monitors. Super easy on the ears. I couldn’t be more pleased.
Out of the box they seemed pretty, um, boxy. After playing some dub (for the low end) for about 3 or 4 hours, I came back in and was very pleasantly surprised. In that short of time there was a very noticeable difference.
Of course they are clear, accurate, and smooth. What I love about them is that I can mix until I’m bored without getting ear fatigue, unlike the Genelec they replaced..
Tight and accurate. After I broke these in, I brought up a mix I had been working on and immediately heard minor problems with the balance and the low mids that I hadn’t noticed before. While I was breaking them in by shuffling through my iTunes library, I could hear details in my favorite songs I had never heard before. Love these monitors!
Went from neumann to these guys. Simply stellar improvement.
I like the overall focused image it gives!
