Built in collaboration with Benson Amps, the Chase Bliss Audio AUTOMATONE Preamp Pedal mkII combines the preamp module from the legendary Chimera amp with the powerful resonant parametric midrange controls from the best-selling Chase Bliss Condor EQ pedal. Throw in a little bit of fuzz, advanced preset controls, and fully motorized faders, and you’ve got the world’s first Automatone pedal.
Known for its warm lows, crisp highs and biting midrange, the Benson Amps Chimera is a favorite amongst tone-chasers. The new Chase Bliss Automatone Preamp mkII combines the exact preamp circuit found in the iconic Chimera amp with state-of-the-art JFET transistors to deliver the same snarling tone in a convenient stomp box format.
The Preamp mkII pedal also utilizes the versatile midrange resonance controls from the renowned Condor EQ pedal. Choose from narrow, standard or wide Q shapes, as well as pre or post routing to dial in the perfect amount of punch.
The new Automatone Preamp mkII pedal also introduces a number of new features, never before seen in Chase Bliss designs. For starters, the preamp circuit is equipped with a variable diode clipping control, which allows you to explore different tones using three types of clipping: transistor, silicon, and asymmetrical germanium.
Additionally, the Automatone Preamp mkII pedal also features a dedicated fuzz circuit ahead of the preamp to create even more overdriven tones. The fuzz setting can be switched from open to gated for even more tonal versatility. Finally, the Automatone Preamp mkII pedal features dedicated preset management controls, making it easy to select and edit up to 30 presets.
The Automatone Preamp mkII pedal is housed in a rugged steel chassis with wood framing for a sleek aesthetic. In addition to the push-button controls, the pedal also features six fully-automated faders, which adjust volume, treble, midrange with variable frequency, bass and gain.
On the rear, the pedal features high-quality 1/4” input and output jacks as well as MIDI input and Thru ports for connecting your favorite synths and MIDI keyboards. There’s even a dedicated Expression pedal input for fine-tuning your tone in real-time.
This is definitely my favorite pedal right now. I can really tweak my sound and come up with some great tones.
