Chandler and Vintage King are proud to introduce the first new EMI badged microphone in over a half century, the Chandler Limited EMI REDD Microphone. Developed in conjunction with Abbey Road Studios and their team of world-class recording engineers, the Chandler REDD Mic is unique in that it incorporates a top class tube microphone preamplifier directly into the microphone's body. This feature allows you to record directly out of the mic system and into your DAW interface without a separate microphone preamp if desired. This built-in REDD.47 tube preamp, similar to the version Chandler offers as a stand-alone 19" rack unit, can also be run at a +4db output level so that you may incorporate a different external mic preamp for an alternate flavor. An advantage to this all-in-one design is in the extremely short signal path between the microphone's capsule and the preamp section; that short signal path helps in producing the giant, larger-than-life sound that this mic is capable of.
Especially desirable for critical vocal recordings, the Chandler EMI REDD Microphone is also fantastic on strings, drum overheads, room mics, and almost any other source that you can dream up. The European handmade platinum-membrane capsule distinguishes itself from any other commercially available microphone capsule available and rises to the top with an especially airy and silky sound quality to it; this coupled with a detailed and present mid-range and a solid, authoratative low-frequency response is what delivers that elusive gigantic vocal sound that seems to leap from the monitors. A sound as if the vocalist is right there in the room with the listener, and one that previous to the release of this mic system was often living in the mythical land of those very best examples of incredibly high priced vintage classics. The value that this system brings with a top quality microphone and top quality microphone preamp in a single package is undeniable.
Simply stunning! Wade Goeke and the other geniuses at Chandler Ltd simply make the best modern recording equipment period! Brandon Darner, Producer (Imagine Dragons, Dave Keuning, The Envy Corps)
Shot it out with vintage 67, 87, c37a and c12 on a female vocalist. It consistently ranked 2nd or 3rd on each song and wound up being her selection for the album. Nice, smooth top end and good modern presence made it feel more contemporary than some of the vintage mics. Loving it on acoustic instruments of all kinds as well.
