By Brad Pack

Teenage Engineering EP-35 Amplifier

From the powerful OP-XY synthesizer to the compact Pocket Operator series, Teenage Engineering offers a wide range of innovative instruments for modern musicians, and the brand’s new EP-35 amplifier makes it even easier to create and perform with them on the go. In this blog, we’re breaking down everything you need to know about the new Teenage Engineering EP-35 amplifier and its accessories, including the K.O.-PEDAL, Handy Mic, USB Drive, Amptenna, K.O. Dock Kit, and more.

EP-35 Amplifier

Although the EP-35 is tailor-made to complement the best-selling EP-133 K.O. II, EP-1320 Medieval, and EP-40 RIDDIM samplers, it's a fully featured amp that works with just about any audio source.

Six Audio Inputs

Featuring six audio inputs that can all be summed together for simultaneous playback, the EP-35 integrates seamlessly with all of your favorite devices.

An onboard ⅛” / 3.5 mm stereo line input is perfect for connecting external instruments like the EP-133 K.O. II sampler or OP-XY synthesizer.

A dedicated ¼” guitar input with low/high gain settings and an XLR microphone input with 48V phantom power (each with its own gain control knob) make it easy to connect guitars, line-level devices, and even microphones for recording vocals or other instruments.

The EP-35 also offers a variety of digital audio inputs, including Bluetooth and USB for playback from external devices.

Finally, the EP-35 features a dedicated EP-Plug for connecting accessories like Teenage Engineering’s USB Drive and Amptenna.

Teenage Engineering EP-35 AmplifierUSB Audio Interface

In addition to the amplifier speaker itself, the EP-35 offers two dedicated audio outputs: an analog ⅛” / 3.5 mm stereo line out for monitoring with headphones or connecting to external devices, and a digital USB audio output.

While the digital output can be used to interface with external devices, the EP-35 also doubles as a portable USB audio interface for recording on the go. Simply connect the EP-35 to your computer, boot up your favorite DAW, and press record to capture a stereo mixdown of your performance. Then simply press play to hear your recording play back through the built-in speaker or line-level outputs.

Built-In Guitar & Mic Presets

Ideal for performing and creating on the go, the EP-35 makes it easy to dial in great sounds fast with eight guitar presets and eight microphone presets that help bring studio-grade polish to any instrument. Plus, the dedicated tone knob makes it easy to fine-tune your sound.

Perfectly Portable

Compact, portable, and powered by a built-in rechargeable battery, the EP-35 is made to go wherever inspiration strikes. With Bluetooth audio capabilities and a dedicated Broadcast Mode (Auracast), the EP-35 is equal parts portable monitor and instrument amplifier.

Perfect for everything from simple living room jam sessions to spur-of-the-moment campfire performances, the EP-35 features a rugged, splash-proof design with a built-in LED strip so you can see in the dark and a dedicated beer storage compartment so you never go thirsty.

Best of all, the EP-35 is fully compatible with Teenage Engineering’s EP-Grid system, meaning you can quickly and easily connect or even affix EP Series devices directly to the side of the amp itself using simple click-on connectors.

EP-35 Accessories

Teenage Engineering K.O.-PEDAL

K.O.-PEDAL

Ideal for creating live loops, setting the metronome, and controlling effects, the K.O.-PEDAL is a wireless MIDI controller featuring two pressure-sensitive buttons for controlling the guitar and mic FX on the EP-35.

It can also be used to control external devices. Simply connect a compatible device to the EP-35 via Bluetooth, MIDI, or USB-C, and connect the K.O.-Pedal via the 3.5mm MIDI output to control your favorite synths and pedalboards.

You can even switch to HID state to control video playback, navigate presentations, or trigger shortcuts by mapping the buttons in your software.

Teenage Engineering Handy Mic

Handy Mic

While you can technically plug any XLR-based microphone into the EP-35, the Handy Mic is the perfect companion. Not only does it include a push-to-talk button so you only capture signal when you want to, but it also features a curly cable for extra reach and a compact design that fits neatly on the handle when not in use. Whether you’re looking for a simple mic to track vocals on the go, or want to turn the EP-35 into the ultimate karaoke machine, the Handy Mic delivers.

Teenage Engineering USB Drive

USB Drive

More than just a simple 16GB USB Drive, this handy little device comes loaded with a wide range of instrumental tracks and drum loops to get your creative juices flowing. Side A holds instrumental tracks for jamming and soloing, while side B has drum loops, live breaks, and electronic beats ranging from 65 to 199 bpm. Simply plug it into the EP-35 and playback starts automatically.

You can even load it with your own mp3, wav, or aiff files if you want to play along with your own backing tracks or simply jam out along with your favorite songs. Combine it with the optional K.O.–PEDAL and you can even live-loop performances over tracks stored on the USB Drive.

Teenage Engineering Amptenna

Amptenna

The EP-35 isn’t just for amplifying your music. Simply connect the optional Amptenna to the EP-Plug to turn your EP-35 into a fully functioning FM Radio receiver, perfect for camping trips or even jamming along with tunes from your favorite radio station.
