Neve has a long legacy of industry-leading circuit designs, and the new Neve Elements Range and 8424E console combine that same legendary analog processing with next-generation digital control. Powered by standalone analog processing boxes and controlled via the Element Control plug-in, the Elements 88R EQ, Elements 88R Dynamics, and Elements 1084 EQ boxes offer eight channels of authentic Neve analog circuitry. Each Element box can be used as a standalone system, or controlled directly from the 8424E console, which includes a dedicated 500 Series control module and optional touchscreen display.
Read on to learn more about the Neve Elements Range and 8424E console, and how they can improve your mixes, streamline your workflow, and make recalls quick and easy.

Neve Elements Digitally Controlled Analog Processors
The Neve Elements Range consists of three analog processing boxes: the Elements 88R EQ, Elements 88R Dynamics, and Elements 1084 EQ.
Although the Neve Elements range is designed to work alongside the 8424E console via the Neve Elements App, it can also function as a standalone system, controlled by the Element Control plug-in in your DAW.
In addition to giving you complete control over every circuit parameter, the software also lets you instantly reset and recall sessions, write and edit automation, and even customize your display so you see what you want and nothing else.
Each box offers eight channels of authentic Neve analog circuitry in a compact, 2U, 19” rack format. Need more channels? No problem, just daisy-chain multiple units together via the Ethernet port.
Each channel can be independently routed using standard analog D-sub connections on the back. Plus, each Element box contains an intelligent insert matrix that makes it easy to interface with all of your favorite outboard gear.

Elements 88R EQ
The Elements 88R EQ processor uses the exact same four-band EQ circuitry found in Neve’s flagship 88R console, found in iconic studios all over the world. Whether you’re adding weight to a kick, opening up a vocal, or carving space in a dense mix, the 88R EQ delivers the kind of punch, precision, and musicality that’s made Neve a studio staple for decades.
- High Frequency: ±18dB of cut/ boost switchable Bell/ Shelving modes. Continuously swept frequency selection from 3.2kHz to 18kHz.
- High Mid Frequency: ±18dB of cut/ boost for the high-mid EQ band. Continuously adjusts the high-mid frequency from 1.25kHz to 10kHz.
- Low Mid Frequency: ±18dB of cut/ boost for the low-mid EQ band. Continuously adjusts the low-mid frequency from 140Hz to 1.6kHz.
- Low Frequency: ±18dB of cut/boost, switchable Bell/Shelving modes. Continuously adjusts the low frequency from 32Hz to 360Hz

Elements 88R Dynamics
Based on the dynamics section of the legendary 88R console, the Elements 88R Dynamics box gives you the control you need to keep tracks tight, punchy, and sitting exactly where they should in a mix. With flexible compression and gating, it’s easy to shape dynamics without losing the natural character and impact of your source.
- RGE – Sets the Range of the Gate or Expander and runs from 0dB to ∞
- THR – Sets the Threshold at which the Gate or Expander should operate and runs from -30dB to 10dB.
- REL – Sets the Release time and operates within a range of 0.1 seconds to 4 seconds.
- EXP – When this switch is pressed, the functionality changes from being a Gate to being an Expander.
- FAST ATTACK – When this switch is pressed, you can set the Attack time from being 1.5ms for 40dB of range (Slow) to 100 microseconds for 40dB range (Fast).

Elements 1084 EQ
If you’re looking for that signature Neve color, the Elements 1084 EQ delivers with eight channels of classic 1084 EQs. First used in Neve’s classic 80-series consoles, the 1084 builds on the iconic 1073 preamp/EQ with a three-band design, switchable high/low shelving, a switchable narrow/wide "Hi-Q" mid-band mode, and added high-pass/low-pass filters.
- High Frequency: Smooth +/-16dB selectable frequency shelving at 10 kHz, 12kHz, & 16kHz
- Low Frequency: Smooth +/-16dB shelving with selectable frequencies of 35Hz, 60Hz, 110Hz & 220Hz
- Mid Frequency: Smooth +/-12dB or +/-18dB peaking with switchable ‘High Q’, selectable centre frequencies of 0.36kHz, 0.7kHz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, 4.8kHz & 7.2kHz.
- High Pass Filter: 18dB per octave slope, switchable between 50Hz, 80Hz, 160Hz & 300Hz
- Low Pass Filter: 18dB per octave slope, switchable between 6kHz, 8kHz, 10kHz & 18kHz

Neve Elements App
The Neve Elements app can be used to control Elements units independently from your DAW. Each mouse click adjusts authentic analog console circuitry, with no emulation or modeling going on under the hood.
Neve Element Control Plug-In
Compatible with all modern DAWs via AAX, AU, and VST3 formats, the Neve Element Control plug-in is used to control Elements processors from within your DAW. Every Element setting is recallable as part of the session itself, offering instant reset of all parameters and complete automation of analog hardware directly from your DAW.

Neve 8424E Console
The 8424E console is a 24-channel, fully resettable console that combines the iconic sound and workflow of the standard 8424 console with the power and flexibility of the Elements Range.
Just like the original, the 8424E features a Marinair transformer-coupled stereo mix bus derived from Neve’s iconic 80-series consoles, plus two classic 1073 preamplifiers for tracking. You still get all 24 channels, four mono groups, and extensive routing and summing options.
Each 8424E console comes with your choice of one Elements 88R EQ, Elements 88R Dynamics, and Elements 1084 EQ unit, but you can always add more by daisy-chaining additional units for higher channel counts or mix and match different sounds.

E-Controller
While the original 8424 comes with two open 500 Series slots in the center section, the 8424E fills these with the new E-Controller module, giving you complete control over all your Elements analog processing boxes.
In addition to controlling the Elements units, the E-Controller also contains two digitally controlled VCA compressors which can be placed across your mix bus, groups, or recording path, while still retaining Neve’s signature 500 Series smart-routing capability.

Elements Upstand Screen
While each Neve Elements box can be controlled directly from your computer using the included Neve Elements App or Element Control plug-in, the optional Elements Upstand screen provides detailed visual feedback right between your speakers.
This high-resolution TFT touchscreen can be mounted directly to the console upstand and automatically displays connected Elements controls, giving you complete control over your Element Control plug-ins without ever leaving the sweet spot.

Upgrade Your 8424 Console to the New 8424E
The new Neve Elements Range is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing 8424 consoles, connecting via the analog insert sends and returns. Each Elements unit contains an intelligent insert matrix that allows customers to integrate their existing outboard gear with both the Elements units themselves and the 8424E console, without losing any routing functionality.
While new consoles can be fitted with an E-Controller module at the factory, all existing 8424 consoles are eligible for the 8424E upgrade. Contact a Vintage King Audio Consultant today to learn how to upgrade your existing 8424 console with the new Neve Elements range analog processing boxes and E-Controller module.
