Stephen F. Austin State University's School of Music recently elevated its on-campus studio facilities to new heights. This incredible installation in Nacogdoches, Texas, features immaculate gear fulfilled by Vintage King, including Solid State Logic and Rupert Neve Designs consoles, alongside monitors from ATC and Focal.
"We had the pleasure of collaborating with James F. Adams, Dr. Nathan Nabb, and their first-class team on a landmark project to build a multi-million dollar, multi-room recording studio complex at Stephen F. Austin State University," says Vintage King Sales Director Chris Bolitho. "The studio features top-tier SSL System T S500 and Rupert Neve Designs 5088 consoles, ATC and Focal immersive monitoring technology, and an extensive collection of the finest outboard gear."
Each control room at SFASU features a distinct gear focus. Studio A is a fully analog room and home to the Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console. Studio B, which features the Solid State Logic System T, is an Atmos-enabled environment with a cutting-edge monitor set-up that previews what budding engineers can expect in most post-production working environments.
"We wanted Studio B to be our modern studio. We also wanted it to be an Atmos room," says SFASU Associate Professor of Music James F. Adams. "[The System T is] designed for music, so its ability to easily track and do post-production mixing was a big deal to us. We also found that the SSL's flow and routing - everything about System T - fits our pedagogical styles and goals."
Vintage King's technicians flew to Nacogdoches, Texas, and spent weeks on-site meticulously installing and fine-tuning the system for SFASU. Students have recently been able to start working in the studios and began training to become the next generation of engineers and audio creators.
"This project not only highlights Vintage King's technical prowess but also underscores our commitment to excellence in sound production," Chris Bolitho states. "This was a truly rewarding experience that reinforces our position as industry leaders and elevates the program at Stephen F. Austin State University to the forefront of music technology education."
