Solid State Logic SSL 1 audio interface

Solid State Logic has a long-standing reputation for delivering studio-quality audio interfaces. Just months after releasing the brand’s biggest interface (the rackmountable SSL 18), SSL is rolling out its most compact interface yet with the new SSL 1.

Designed for musicians, producers, and creators, the SSL 1 delivers big studio sound in a compact, portable package. In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at the new SSL 1 interface and how it can streamline your workflow, both in the studio and on the go.

But first, check out this video to learn more about the SSL 1’s key features.

Don’t let its size fool you. Although the SSL 1 is small, it still delivers the studio-grade performance you expect from SSL. At its core, the SSL 1 is a 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interface with class-leading specs and a suite of SSL plug-ins for fine-tuning your recordings.

Under the hood, it sports one classic SSL-designed preamp with enough gain to support low-power dynamic microphones, plus onboard +48V phantom power, a built-in high-pass filter, and the brand’s innovative Legacy 4K Analogue Enhancement switch for adding console-style harmonics to your tracks.

On the back, you’ll find an additional instrument/line-level input for recording guitars, keyboards, or signals from other devices, plus a pair of balanced monitor outputs. Up front, there’s a professional high-current headphone output that delivers clean, detailed sound, even with commercial headphones.

On the digital side, the SSL 1 features professional-grade 32-bit/192 kHz converters with an exceptionally low-noise design, delivering stunning clarity, depth, and dynamic range. Plus, it comes bundled with the SSL Production Pack, a curated collection of essential virtual instruments, samples, and software tools from today’s top brands, including Harrison Audio, Antares, Native Instruments, IKMultimedia, Ableton, and more.

Using The SSL 1 Interface

Whether you’re just starting out or looking for a portable new interface to record at home or on the go, the SSL 1 makes tracking a breeze with its easy-to-use interface.

If you’re a singer/songwriter, the SSL 1 makes it easy to capture vocals and guitar at the same time. Simply connect your favorite vocal mic to the preamp input, plug your electric guitar straight into the DI, and press record!

Not a singer? Not to worry! Guitarists and bassists can record a direct signal through the DI, and mic up an amp using the mic input, giving you two tones to blend together, plus the option to reamp the DI with another amp or plug-in later on.

Don’t worry though, the SSL 1 isn’t just for mics and guitars; it also works great for capturing line‑level sources like synthesisers, drum machines, and samplers. Plus, the mic input is great for sampling real sounds straight into your DAW.

In today’s world, musicians often pull double-duty as content creators to promote their work, which is why the SSL 1 is optimized for live streaming. It features three stereo loopback.

Plus, because the SSL 1 is bus-powered, you can power it using a 5V power bank or phone charger, making it easy to record or stream from just about anywhere.
