Legendary pro audio brand API Audio has made a major announcement this morning by unveiling its new Vision+ console. This seismic update to the iconic Vision desk introduces several new features that will enhance functionality and streamline workflow.
At its core, the Vision+ retains what API is known for. It's a masterful analog console with an in-line signal path, available in 32, 48, 64, 80, and 96-channel frame configurations. The API Vision+ console builds on this foundation with four key updates: Final Touch Automation upgrades, a redesigned input module, frame design changes, and expanded customization options.
The first upgrade for the API Vision+ centers around Final Touch Automation, enhancing both analog and DAW control. A Dual Touch-Screen Automation Control Module provides streamlined navigation of analog controls. Meanwhile, an integrated DAW control via HUI and MCU protocols allows the channel faders to function as a control surface for your DAW. No external hardware is required, as the system is fully self-contained.
For its next major update, API Audio reimagined the console’s input module with a stronger focus on functionality. The brand’s designers have refined the channel layout and introduced several notable changes and new features. The fader drive circuit has been updated with touch calibration, and a new Alt-Line Input option allows engineers to double line inputs during mixdown. There is also individual control of the lower 200-series dynamics module, which can be assigned to either fader path. Finally, overall visibility has been improved with translucent switch caps featuring LED illumination.
API’s Vision+ also introduces several innovations to the console’s frame design. These updates include a redesigned power monitor, an improved patch bay design, and enhanced power distribution for greater reliability and performance. In addition, an optional 2500+C Bus Compressor can now be integrated directly into the center section, further expanding the console’s creative and mixing capabilities.
There are also several additional optional upgrades available, allowing for further customization of the Vision+. These include an optional 30″ Producer’s Desk with monitor mount, and an Options Bucket pre-wired for 200 Series and/or 500 Series modules.
The original API Audio Vision established itself as one of the world’s leading large-format analog recording and mixing consoles. While the brand has made significant updates with the new Vision+, the heart and soul of the original design remain intact and stronger than ever. If you’re after the API sound, it’s here in full force.
As previously mentioned, the console is available in 32, 48, 64, 80, or 96-channel frame sizes, with an analog in-line signal path featuring 2 100mm motorized faders per channel. The Vision+ includes 24 multitrack buses, three stereo buses, one stereo grand master bus, 10 aux sends, Stereo/LCR/Surround panning on each channel, a high-pass filter on both signal paths, a comprehensive center section control (eight playback selections and three surround monitor outputs with individual Solo/Mute), and optional classic API EQs on every channel.
