The BAE 1073MP is a rack-mountable preamp and high-pass filter based on the legendary Neve 1073 equalizer. With classic Carnhill transformers a hand-wired Class A design, the BAE 1073MP captures the unmistakable sound of the original Neve 1073. Ideal for tracking engineers who are looking for classic tone at an affordable price, or mixing engineers who want to add depth to their mixes without breaking the bank, the BAE 1073MP delivers vintage tone at a fraction of the price.
The BAE 1073MP uses the exact same circuit as the original Neve 1073—from the Carnhill transformer coupled input to the hand-wired Class-A design. The BAE 1073MP captures the same iconic sound signature and wide bandwidth as the original. Known for its rich low-end, edgy highs and focused midrange, the 1073 has been used on countless hit records.
The BAE 1073MP also introduces new features for added versatility. An all-new line input on the rear can be used to process line-level signals—perfect for fattening up the mix bus! And with a DI input for passive and active instruments on the front, there’s no signal that won’t benefit from the colorful sound of the BAE 1073MP.
The BAE 1073MP features a silky-smooth Elma rotary switch and classic red knob for setting line and mic level gain. Four push-buttons provide added functionality for a wide range of studio applications. The DI button engages the high-impedance instrument input for recording guitars and synths, while the LINE enables the line-level input.
The 48v button provides phantom power for condenser microphones. The phase reversal button inverts the phase of a signal—perfect for recording snare bottom mics! Finally, a toggle switch on the right lets you select 1200 or 300 ohm microphone impedance for capturing pristine sound with any microphone.
The BAE MP is just what the Doctor ordered. Sweet. Creamy, and Sexy. Might need another!
Warm and wonderful. The Steve Stevens mod makes it a great preamp for recording electric guitars.
This is such a nice pre I plan to buy more
These BAE 1073 mp have lots of mojo. I’ve tried several other mic preamp‘s and these just have something extra. I use them on everything. I have 12 channels of BAE Preamps I am in Nashville and I have kept my studio booked 51 weeks a year for 26 years. I’ve been using BAE for five years with no problems. I also have Neve and Vintech for a total of 26 channels.
Heavenly tones!!!👏👏👏 Acoustic guitar and vocals sound amazing through it!! Big FAT tones!!
Awesome pre amp! Nothing like it.
This unit is fantastic!!
Vintage King set up a shoot out between several models of the 1073 (including the new N’s) ....the BAE was more magical than all of the ones we tried by a long shot!
Have got 1073MP with Bootsy Collins and Steve Stevens modes. Pretty universal preamp with beautiful compression at higher gain settings. Build quality is perfect. I just impressed how it improves my overall guitar tone with well articulated rich and lush sounds! Thanks to VK team for great support and flawless delivery!
