The Avid S6 is a modular system by design, enabling studio owners and creatives the ability to configure a system that fits their needs with ease. In this section, we will breakdown the modules that make up an S6 and offer insight into the pivotal role they can play in your workflow.
As the heart of the S6, the Master Touch Module offers users a touchscreen, rotary encoders, knobs and keys that offer control over plug-ins, monitoring and more. One Master Touch Module can support up to 64 faders and up to three can be installed in the same system.
This module for the Avid S6 gives engineers the ability to navigate and automate their projects. Engineers can do this by using the full transport control section, which features a shuttle wheel, focus fader, shortcuts and switches.
For surround sound projects, the S6 Joystick Module enables control via two touch-sensitive joysticks, TFT and OLED screens, top-lit encoders, 16 panning switch and so much more. This module can also be used to control any knob parameter on the S6.
Avid’s S6 Post Module fast tracks the completion of post projects by offering quick switching between recorded tracks and your inputs. The module features two rows of PEC/DIRECT paddles with Solo and Mute buttons and an OLED for viewing track names. With VCA support, engineers can control over 200 tracks via the paddles.
This Avid S6 module features eight channel strips that allow you control track levels and more. Each strip features a motorized fader, dual LED meters, attention key, and Mute, Solo, Select, Automation controls. Eight Fader Modules can pair with one Master Touch Module, which means an S6 can have up to 24 Fader Modules with three Master Touch Modules.
As an essential element of any S6 configuration, the Knob Module gives users the ability to adjust and edit any number of parameters. This module also features eight channel strips and each strip has four top-lit knobs that pair with an OLED display and additional navigation switches.
Working in collaboration with the S6 Knob module, the Process Module is how you route and assign functions to your knobs. You can assign functions to eight channels by using select switches for inputs, dynamics, EQ, and pan, in addition to expanding parameters all the way across any Knob or Process module.
Keeping a close eye on your mix is an important part of your job. Use the S6 Display Module to monitor essential details, including audio meters, groups, routing, feedback and more. Each S6 Display Module allows you to monitor eight channels and display your layout in a number of different ways.
