Jeff Gastineau first discovered music through the piano, trumpet and guitar as a child. In his teenage years, he played in bands like many other young musicians. Although he developed his skills with both synthesizers and guitar, Gastineau has a particular passion for synths. He has owned classic models like the Oberheim OB-Xa and the iconic Sequential Circuits Prophet 10.
Gastineau has professionally gigged most of his life, playing on stages large and small, from renowned stadiums to small bars and everywhere in between. With decades of experience as a musician and running a studio, he brings a seasoned wisdom to the team at VK. Excited to be among others with passions for music creation, he feels right at home with us.
Throughout his career, Gastineau has worked with a range of companies, from Korg and Roland to Marshall and more. His wealth of well-rounded experience makes him a valuable resource. In his free time, Gastineau enjoys playing tennis and golf, and he also ran a large music instruction facility that offers lessons and performances.
Who are some of your favorite musicians/bands/albums and why? My favorite keyboard player is Jan Hammer. His expressive solos stood out over mechanical sequenced synths of the time. His later soundtrack work also featured great sounds and compositions that were very unique. Steve Lukather is my favorite guitarist. He seems to always play the correct part for the song but can always tear it up when needed. Some of my favorite bands are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Journey and the Dixie Dregs.
What is something interesting about you that you would like to share with the team? I live in a barn and I love it.
