ADAM Audio’s A3X is their smallest monitor and is designed for environments where space is at a premium, such as home studios and desktops. Yet the A3X meets all professional requirements, presenting detailed imaging and accuracy from its X-ART tweeter and 4.5-inch mid/low frequency driver driven by two highly efficient 25W amplifiers.
Designed for the quality-conscious user on a tight budget, the active A3X offers performance that belies its compact size. Intended for vertical orientation, it features controlled, deep low frequency response and accurate sound reproduction, especially in the critical 200 and 400 Hz region, making it ideal for critical listening situations where space is limited.
ADAM’s A3X delivers transparent high-frequency reproduction and clear mids, with tuned dual front baffle ports helping to deliver low frequency extension down to 60 Hz. The A3X’s woofer is made from very light yet stiff carbon fiber, delivering color-free, transparent sound.
Like all the AX Series models, the A3X incorporates ADAM Audio’s X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter, which features a pleated membrane handmade in Germany to precise tolerances. The X-ART tweeter’s membrane can move the air four times faster than conventional tweeter diaphragms with no distortion, producing a natural sounding, transparent high frequency response with minimal listener fatigue, enabling you to work for longer periods of time and with more accuracy.
Two 25W PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) amplifiers drive each two-way A3X monitor, producing a maximum SPL of 106 dB per pair at one meter.
The A3X includes Stereolink, a particularly useful feature for any environments with a desktop DAW. Stereolink offers additional input and output jacks for the second stereo channel, enabling you to control the volume of both speakers from a single control. You can fine-tune the second speaker using a separate volume control to compensate for listening distance differences. Either speaker can be a master or slave.
The rear panel of the A3X also includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors and a tweeter gain control. Two M6 (6 mm) metric screw threads are provided for stand or wall mounting.
