Universal Audio SD-1 Standard Dynamic Microphone

UA’s new entry into the dynamic mic market, the Universal Audio SD-1 Standard Dynamic Microphone, combines a neutral frequency response with versatile EQ switches that make it easy to dial-in professional, broadcast-ready sound. With a wide, flat frequency response, the UA SD-1 captures a variety of sources brilliantly in both studio and live situations. Tailor-made for close-miking speech and vocals, SD-1 features a simple dynamic design that naturally rejects unwanted background noises, such as fans, refrigerators, and noisy bandmates.

Built-in EQ switches come standard, allowing users to shape their sound on the way in. The onboard low-cut filter reduces unwanted rumble and mud below 200 Hz, while the articulation boost applies a smooth presence boost in the 3-5 kHz range for added detail and clarity. Plus, when recording with an Apollo audio interface, you can instantly enhance your tracks using custom Apollo Channel Strip Presets, offering radio-ready EQ and compression settings for vocals, guitars and more.

Equipped with an internal shock-mount and built-in windscreen, SD-1 automatically reduces plosives and handling noise for a cleaner, clearer sound, making it a versatile miking option in any setting—even in less than ideal tracking environments. Plus, with a sleek modern design and rear-mounted XLR jack for easy cable runs, the SD-1 looks great on any desktop, making it the perfect solution for podcasts, livestreams and Zoom meetings, too. One session with the SD-1, and it becomes clear that the folks at Universal Audio have delivered an incredibly flexible dynamic microphone.
