The Mellotron M4000D Mini was developed to meet the needs of keyboardists who want an even smaller and lighter digital Mellotron, and offers the same features, sounds and front panel controls as the larger M4000D. Instead of the M4000D’s wooden keyboard, it includes a high-quality, semi-weighted Fatar piano-style keyboard with velocity sensitivity, and no aftertouch.
The 24-bit uncompressed sounds are immediately accessible and two banks of sounds can be accessed at the same time and blended. An expansion card slot lets you add another 100 sounds. The front panel TFT display can even display images of the selected instruments.
The M4000D Mini features the same controls as the larger version, including volume, tone, normal/half-speed play, and pitch adjustment. It also provides the same outputs as the M4000D—A and B banks plus Master; sustain, expression, and volume pedals; and headphones—only on unbalanced 1/4-in. connectors. MIDI in, out, and thru are also included.
The Mini’s lightweight metal cabinet is designed to fit on the full-size M4000D to make a great looking dual-manual Mellotron.

I have been playing and programming Synthesizers since 1972 when I bought my ARP 2600 and a year later my Mini Moog. I always loved and wanted a Mellotron but back then I couldn’t justify the cost and the space it took up, let alone it required on going maintenance and was fairly limited in the recorded tapes it was supplied with, flute, choir and strings. Over the past 3 years I’ve built a new Music Production Studio in my home’s Music Room which includes quite a few Synthesizers, Drum Machines etc. When I learned that the Mellotron was being manufactured again by this Company in Stockholm I did my research, listening to what it sounded like and knew I finally had to get one. It is the perfect size and incorporates all of the original Mellotron sound samples and so much more. The ability to have additional Sound Cards gives you so much sound production possibilities. To be honest a Mellotron is a very specialized instrument and not for everyone. It’s also not inexpensive compared to today’s available Synthesizers and Sound Machines but….. for me it was a must have. I am so glad that I purchased it and additional Sound Cards. I’ve had it for a little over a month now and play it every day. I haven’t had this much fun with a musical instrument since my original ARP 2600 in 1972.
Next best thing to tapes! Sounds great and very versatile. Salesperson was knowledgeable and helpful. Can't wait to get another sound card for it.

Loving my Tron. I have wanted one of these since I was a kid back in the ‘70’s I’ve used VST’s but I hated the work flow. I’ve got a room full of gear which I haven’t even turned on since I got. This thing sounds amazing.
