New & Current Vintage King Card Holders
Originally from San Antonio, Anthony Vaticalos was raised on classic rock and trips to Tower Records – a recipe familiar to generations of musicians in their early years. Picking up guitar at a young age, Anthony turned to the iconic Tascam Portastudio to track his demos by the age of 16, in the years before the era of Pro Tools rigs. Citing a broad spectrum of influences, from Neurosis and Mastadon to Soundgarden and The Mars Volta, Anthony's favorite part of his own tracking experiences involve getting the tones just right. When asked about his approach to music making, he simply cites, "Taking your time and doing it right."
Having had success with both radio charting tracks as well as New York Times bestselling audiobooks, Anthony finds himself at home amongst the Vintage King staff, finding inspiration in the fact that most of his colleagues are also involved with music production outside of work. When not delving into the audio world, Vaticalos finds his time spent on art and crossfit, as well as a bit of traveling. His most important piece of advice? Easy: don't take yourself too seriously.
What is your favorite piece of gear?
Right now it is a pair of CAPI VP28's. Great to track with and great to send a mix through.
What piece of gear changed how people work the most?
My guess is the computer.
