Whether you play guitar, bass, keyboards or another instrument, you’ll need a direct box that won’t diminish your instrument’s tone, like the Warm Audio Passive Direct Box. Every aspect of this direct box is designed for maximum sonic integrity, from the custom-wound CineMag USA transformer to the rugged metal knob and switches. You can expect a warm, rich tone even after long cable runs, and the extruded aluminum enclosure ensures a long life span. When you need to convert an instrument-level signal to mic-level with sonic quality as your top priority, you’ll be well served with the Passive Direct Box.
I got the passive version. Works well with active acoustic guitar. I was Surprised how well the amp / speaker input sounded on bass guitar. Retaine
This is my best passive DI box. I am already a Warm Audio fan. I have the WA2MKII Mic Pre in my home studio, and find it versatile with HI-Z input that can act like an active DI. And of course the transformers by CineMag are excellent. For outside orchestra and group performance work, I prefer a passive DI box. I play on 2 different EVO Digital Accordions from Bugari, with the sound engine built by Roland. Same engine as the Roland V-Accordion FR-8X. They have the usual HI-Z instrument outputs and somewhat hot audio levels of a Roland keyboard product. I got my feet wet on 2 different Radial DI boxes first, then added a Countryman active DI for a stereo box. A DI box should be required equipment for these V-Accordion instruments (my personal opinion after years of futzing with balancing sound levels with instrument connected directly to mixer or amp). The Warm Audio passive DI is superior for the tone and warmth. The CountryMan is a close second, but that is active and is twice the list price of the Warm passive DI. I have not needed (yet) to explore the other features. I am using it with the default settings. Build quality is excellent. And it has the best looks of my DI box collection too. Highly recommended.
