Vacuvox V41 Stereo/Dual-Mono Tube Microphone Preamp - Glass Tubes

The Vacuvox V41 stereo/dual-mono microphone preamp is a recreation of the ultra-rare Maihak (Telefunken) V41, widely considered to be the Holy Grail of preamps! This version uses EF804S, EF804, and EZ80 NOS tubes glass tubes for a sound extremely close to the original.

The Vacuvox V41 preamp performs exactly like the original in sound, frequency and phase behavior. It features an upgraded regulated power supply with a much lower noise floor than the original (<-90 dB). It is also more stable which results in a tighter bass end.

The Vacucox V41 has 5 dB more gain than the original by using the output transformer in a different way. This recreation also features a -20 dB pad, phase reverse, +48V phantom power, high-pass filter above 60 Hz and an extra linear potentiometer to adjust the gain in between the 5 dB steps. Channels can be matched by an internal trimmer.

The V41 has two channels each with separate power supplies. Each channel has 6 transformers and 4 tubes. This version 1x EF804S, 2x EF804, and 1x EZ80 NOS tubes for a sound very close to the original. The transformers are custom-wound at the same factory used for the U23. Audio transformers are perfect replicas from the original Malotki made from the purest permalloy (80% nickel). Input and output transformers are shielded through numeral cans and the power transformer has a static shield to prevent noise and clicks coming in from the outside.
