The Vacuvox DQ-95 is an analog stereo mastering equalizer that takes inspiration from three rare pieces of vintage studio gear: the EMI TG12412 mastering EQ, a rare Decca EQ from the 1950s, and a Klangfilm output amplifier. Featuring four parametric EQ bands with peak and shelf settings, optional mid/side processing, and a premium tube amplification stage, the DQ-95 delivers analog vibe and versatility. The EMI TG12412 was a passive mastering equalizer developed in the early 1970s for Abbey Road's custom TG12410 mastering desks and is still in use today. Featuring four EQ bands per channel (each with stepped controls for Frequency, Gain/Attenuation, and Shape), this legendary EQ has helped put the finishing touches on countless classic records.
Decca's 1950s-era mastering consoles featured custom two-channel equalizers designed and built by Decca engineers for cutting-edge stereophonic sound. These mastering EQs featured bass and treble bands on each channel, each offering different frequency settings for shelf and peak shapes. Inspired by the Decca mastering EQ, the DQ-95's high- and low-shelf circuits add low-end control and high-end polish.
Klangfilm was a German manufacturer of cinema sound systems known for their high-end amplifiers, equalizers, and loudspeakers. Founded in 1928 and shuttered in the '70s, Klangfilm's most popular products include the KLV Series cinema amplifiers and RZ062 a/b equalizer modules. The DQ-95's tube amplification stage takes inspiration from Klangfilm's custom designs, providing clean makeup gain with a touch of vintage character.
