This particular unit is rather unique. It was originally built in the early to mid 70s for Masterfonics (RIP Glenn). It has the full production 430b boards with all HS1000 op-amps in a smaller 2u ITI case. Over the years it’s been worked on by Dan Zelman, Steve Firlotte, Chris Muth, and Paul Gold who have done the following modifications:
This is the full MES-430/432 Mastering Series EQ sound in a smaller 2U ITI case. Same guts as the larger legends--but with different controls. It is a quirky unit which to those who have worked with ITI in later years would not be surprising. The sound is incredible and it is a great opportunity to save compared to a more traditionally housed unit. Originally built in the early to mid 70’s for Masterfonics, it has the full production 430B boards with all HS1000 op-amps.
Unlike a stock MES-430B, it does not have stepped switches for controls, rather it has potentiometers. The face plate is printed with ±12 dB boost and cut levels but the unit has been modified to boost and cut ±6 dB. This unit has been updated with an external PSU with 7-pin XLR (same as GML power supplies). The original, non-functioning PSU has been fully bypassed but remains installed along with the original wire harness.
