Combining tried-and-true circuit design with modern updates, it delivers the rich analog tone you expect, plus added flexibility. Celebrated for their linear response and low distortion, API's classic 2520 op amps provide a clean signal path that preserves every detail of your sound. These op amps support consistent, noise-free performance, allowing you to dial in subtle leveling or aggressive limiting. These premium components give you a clean slate to process your sound without unwanted noise or distortion.
The THRUST filter precisely sculpts low frequencies using frequency-dependent sidechaining. Three available settings allow you to tailor the unit's low-end response for processing bass-heavy mixes, kick drums, bass guitars and more. This patented circuit minimizes muddiness and enhances punch, delivering a tight and impactful bottom end on any source.
The API 2500+ offers two selectable compression modes for ultimate flexibility. In "Old" (feed-back) mode, the detector signal is derived from the output, providing smooth, vintage-style compression. In "New" (feed-forward) mode, the signal is taken directly from the input for faster transient response. This dual-mode design provides maximum flexibility for different genres and instruments. Use this feature to achieve either classic warmth or modern precision with ease.
The innovative Mix/Blend Circuit provides detailed control over the compressed and uncompressed signal blend. When engaged, you can choose from two modes. Cross mode (X) automatically balances the dry and processed signals as you adjust the Mix knob. In Parallel mode (II), the Mix knob blends the compressed signal with a fixed dry signal. This flexible circuit lets you enhance mix depth and maintain natural dynamics simultaneously.
The API 2500+ introduces an expanded variable threshold range of -20 to +20 dB. This extended range allows for precise tailoring of dynamics, accommodating a wider variety of audio sources and mixing styles. Whether you want gentle dynamic control or heavy compression, this feature ensures optimal performance for any application. From delicate acoustic recordings to energetic drum busses, the expanded threshold lets you dial in the ideal level of sensitivity.
The API 2500+ features an optional Auto Makeup Gain function for maintaining consistent output levels. This setting automatically compensates for gain reduction without manual adjustment.
