The TipTop Audio Buchla Model 266t Source of Uncertainty is a recreation of the original random voltage generator and sculpting module. Continuing with TipTop's reissues of Buchla's 200-series modules for Eurorack, the 266t brings six different tools in one unit for your Eurorack rig. The 266t includes two sections of generation and modification, with two different processors and four generator types with one producing three typed of analog noise - flat, -3 dB/oct, and +3 dB/oct.
The Fluctuating Random Voltages section has two individual smooth voltage generators for adding, each controlled by a rate parameter with CV inputs for modulation. Below that is the Quantized Random Voltages section, which offers a stepped random output that randomly chooses voltage based upon one of two equations corresponding to a value called "n". You can tune your range to a fixed amount of possibilities, depending on the output, with n+1 output being more localized to the 5V range and the 2^n output having equal opportunity across all 10 volts. The last generator, Stored Random Voltage, produces two outputs of stepped voltage with an equally distributed random voltage output and a selectable bell distribution output that centers its options based on the probability control.
The Sample and Hold section functions as a track and hold processor, tracking the CV input and changing only at the next high input on the pulse in. Additionally, the CV output has two alternate outputs based off of alternative pulse counts, and the pulse output alternatives similarly alternate each pulse count. The Integrator section features a straightforward, useful smoothing processor that determines the time to reach from one CV value to the next.
