Love this mic so much! All 3 singers in the band bought them as well. They definitely need a bit of eq, but sound quality and craftsmanship is A+

I'm had this mic about 9 months now. I got it at the same time as the M80, so you can check out my review on that one as well. I've used this exclusively on guitar cabs, so I can only comment on it in that capacity. I really like this mic. I find this mic shines with how it captures the mid range and it sounds great as a stand along guitar mic or mixed. If you're an SM57 guy, this mic isn't a "better" 57. It has it's own thing going on, with the 57 having the impact and teeth in the upper mids and the m81 being richer with more openness & presence. Telefunken says it tames brighter sounds, but don't let that make you think it's a dark mic. It's certainly darker than the M80, but it has enough presence to keep it from sounding dark. The M81 mic works extremely well on V30 speakers. I find it's pretty easy to find the mics sweet spot. I do struggle with it on my G12T75 cab though. That's when I reach for the M80. Anyway, it's a great mic. Definitely give it a shot if you're looking for a different flavor of dynamic.
