TC Electronic Multichannel Mastering - Electronic Delivery

The license includes MD5.1 and Toolbox 5.1 plus MD4, MD3, BrickWall 2 and the presets from these licenses.

The multichannel presets included can be used as templates for 5.1 limiting, optimization, DVD mastering and film to DVD Transfers, as well as Time Alignment, Bass Management and Down-mix functions adhering to international standards. Please refer to the Stereo Mastering section for a description of MD4, MD3, BrickWall 2.

MD 5.1
MD5.1 is a 3 band dynamics processor for 5 main channels plus wideband dynamics for the LFE. It offers Compressor, Expander and Limiter for multichannel signals in one precision algorithm. Primary use is limiting, level optimization and spectral balancing.

Extensive linking and priority parameters enable precise control of the processing to suit any type of signal for film and music. More MD5.1 algorithms may be cascaded to process e.g. 6.1, 7.1 or 10.2 signals, and if needed a 7th steering input can be used to influence processing of one or more of the main channels.

EQ 5.1

This is a general-purpose algorithm which can be used in conjunction with other algorithms or used stand alone.

Channels can be linked or used separately. Analog sounding, high precision filter models are used, and Softclip can be selected on each output.

Toolbox 5.1
The Toolbox5.1 is designed to support surround production. The algorithm offers different Level, Test and Bass
management as well as Down Mix options.

Toolbox5.1 is offered as an integrated part of the MD5.1 and VP8 License packages.

MDX5.1
MDX5.1 is a high resolution dynamics processor for multichannel signals. It presents a sophisticated new angle to dynamic range control, and is an alternative to traditional compression and limiting techniques.

MDX5.1 will automatically become available to System 6000 users with MD5.1 license when upgrading to software 3.60.

MDX5.1 is capable of bringing up low level detail, rather than boosting everything, and then having to limit the transients afterwards, see Fig 1. The transfer function offered is ideal for level translation purposes, for instance for broadcast station ingest, or for converting between theatrical and domestic listening conditions, see Fig 2. Low level lift can even be applied to specific channels selectively in one, two or three frequency bands.
