A typical recording snare is 14” in diameter. The Sugar Percussion Vintage King edition has a 15” diameter to provide a wider dynamic range and fuller body. These snares can be cranked for a nice jazz sound, or detuned for the classic Steve Jordon fat snare tone, or any other tone in between. The 5” depth produces brilliant crack without being too boomy.
