The Stager Microphones SR-5 is a passive directional ribbon microphone. It's specifically designed for use on guitar and vocals, but is at home on virtually and source. It utilizes the exact same high-performance proprietary toroidal transformer for in Stager's SR-1A, SR-2N, and SR-3.
My desert island microphone. So enjoyable I now have three of them. The pop filter is icing on the cake (excellent for its compact and unobtrusive form). I can close mike anything with the SR-5. If I had room in my island bag, I’d bring Stager’s stereo SR-2N to capture ambient reflections and I’d be good to go—aside from being stuck on an island. Dad jokes aside, the SR-5 is a joy to use.
