Oxford, England natives Solid State Logic have for decades been one of the top choices for high-end studios in need of comprehensive desks to mix and record albums of the highest quality. Known as one of the early pioneers of in-line console designs, SSL users love the desks for their in-depth control of audio on each channel. With humble beginnings in the late 1960s, Solid State Logic has since taken the mixing market by storm with the unmistakable look and sound of its console. From the input stage to expansive EQ optionality and a dynamics section, each channel of an SSL desk already gives you many options to shape the sound of your music.
SSL’s ability to shape sounds into lush, strong recordings is what keeps users coming back for more. It’s hard to find any engineer in the music industry who doesn’t love the glue-style compression that the SSL Bus Compressor imparts on a mix, while the E and G Series EQs are so classic that they’ve been made into plugins several times over. From AC/DC and Tupac to Green Day and Rihanna, mountains of classic records have been mixed using the tools and sonic signature of SSL’s desks. Open a mix on SSL’s consoles, and within minutes you’ll hear why it’s the top choice of so many esteemed mix engineers.
As the shape of the recording industry shifts, SSL has offered solutions to fit not only large, high-end studios, but also project spaces on budgets as well. With smaller desks like the Nucleus and the Matrix, SSL offers the same top-quality circuits, now with a more compact footprint and DAW integration. Even offering new outboard gear, you can sum mixes with tools like the Fusion and mix from home with small interfaces like the SSL 2 and SSL 2+. With modern flexibility for a studio of any size, coupled with the signature sound and analog processing that made the company famous, Solid State Logic continues to offer tools to make music and broadcast sound their best.
