New & Current Vintage King Card Holders
Solid State Logic is a world leader in the pro audio field, renowned for the transparency of their DAW compressors, plugins, and more. Now they take the next step and introduce Fusion, a means of releasing the full spectrum of sonic coloration in the analogue domain. The SSL Fusion uses classic dynamics processing tools in a new way to create more color, more character, and more cohesion in your stereo stems and mixes. In the heart of the studio, the Fusion Plugin by SSL combines five different elements to release the tremendous sonic energy inherent in your stereo signals.
The SSL Violet EQ is a new approach to equalization for the mix bus. By creating their first new EQ circuit in over a quarter century, SSL has drawn on their vast legacy to pinpoint the most useful frequencies and ideal response curves, providing an efficient way to bring a new heft and sparkle to your mixes. With four selectable frequencies in two bands, minimal phase-shift and a range of 9 dB boost or attenuation, the Violet EQ element provides a wide range of options to dial in the right range of results.
The Vintage Drive element is a novel approach to enhancing harmonic content. Controls for Drive and Density are interdependent and can produce sweet musical harmonics and a more organic style of compression with soft clipping. These can bring a cohesiveness and glue to your mixes, impossible to achieve by other means. A tri-color status indicator lets you know when you’re in the sweet spot.
Another tri-color status light is found on the HF Compressor element, a more straightforward approach to compression that is specifically tailored for the high end of the spectrum (from 3 to 20 kHz). This element allows a more analog style HF roll-off, well suited to smoothing out the edges that digital tracking can produce. Achieve the unique tone you’re after, and mellow your harshness - not the other way around!
A switchable Transformer circuit is the element that achieves what analogue iron is all about – adding some saturation in the low frequencies, while also phase-shifting the highs to create color and character that no digital signal processing can achieve.
With the new Stereo Image element, a real analog Mid-Side control is at your fingertips. Your depth of field can be enhanced by altering the Side signal component, providing depth and width that simple panning cannot create.
Several other key features round out the array of functions on the new SSL Fusion Plugin. At the front and back ends are Input and Output Trim controls providing 12 dB of boost or cut, with a convenient Overload LED on the Input side. A 15-point LED meter provides for Peak Hold display of the signal, and the Bypass mode allows all switchable functions to be bypassed, after the Input trim control. A three-position High Pass Filter on the Input side allows a cutoff at 30-4-50 Hz.
Further manipulation of your signal can be achieved with a set of XLR connections that function in either of two ways. In one mode is a Stereo Insert for processing the mix bus; this can be switched to occur before the EQ element. In the other mode, they can be used as a Mid-Side (MS) circuit, where separate signal processing like EQ or compression can be delegated to the center (Middle) and Side components of a stereo signal, either before or after the Stereo Image element. These features greatly enhance the ability to manipulate a stereo signal, making the SSL Fusion the premier analogue stereo signal processor. Add some color to your life with the Solid State Logic Fusion!

Amazing, if you have the money just go get it ASAP, add the Maag EQ4M with it for compressor you can Add the SSL Bus+ or Dangerous Music Compressor. It’s the Perfect Combo.
Can’t say more than has already been. Really breathes some life into your mix.
Dope!!!
Great purchase and very happy. The unit has added clarity and punch to individual tracks and stems, and is great for mixing and mastering.
Best Purchase EVER !!!
This is a good tool. It's versatile and great for a combination of subtle enhancements. I like it best as a hardware insert on my mix busses, but it can also be great to print drums, guitars, and synths through.
SSL came through with another quality piece of gear. This can add that extra 5%- 10% that your mix needs, or add some vibe to your recording chain. If you have the budget, I highly suggest buying the SSL Fusion.
Very easy to use and get subtle color shifts. I’ve used it for master bus and also tracking. The density and drive both add volume and noise so you have to adjust the output trim temporarily to be able to quickly bypass to be able to A/B your tweaks. Aside from that, the other options can quickly be turned on and off for simple checking of sound. Depending on the source the Fusion can sometimes add more detail and air to a mix - sometimes it’s more obvious but often quick small shifts. It’s a fun way to turn some knobs and adjust the overall sound. Neve MBP or LTL Silverbullet are competitors but offer somewhat different flavors and options in my opinion. So if you don’t have these options that the Fusion offers in your toolkit currently, it may be a good option to cover several bases at once.
We have a love hate relationship but she’s still my sweetie
Fantastic color unit. Easy to understand and each component has a obvious impact on the sound so that you can dial in just the right amount. One small issue, I wish the power button was on the front panel but the build quality and impact on the mix make that easy to get over.
The Fusion replaced four or five plugins on my mix buss. Being a guitar player by training, I always love grabbing a knob versus clicking a mouse or just relying on my "standard" presets. After moving to ITB the last couple years, it's been great to get back into OTB summing and hitting the Fusion on the way back in. I feel like I'm back to making decisions with my ears first, and it's sped up my workflow while yielding better results. Highly recommended!
Glueing! together the sounds and tracks from my vintage microphones and vintage outboard hybrid gear in the control room is a must!
Great! Addition to multi-tracking and mixing, for color, warmth and some sizzle if when required.
My thanks to VK and SSL.

SSL Fusion is actually one on the best purchased I ever did! Essential in the studio
Great sounding unit!!! Only complaints are the slight hiss at certain settings and rear power switch, definitely Not deal breakers!! Formally mixing ITB. Now tracking and Mixing into my ssl six / fusion combo makes everything “sound like a record”. Money well spent !!
Thanks VK & SSL
Not much else to add from the other dozen or so reviews already posted. It's a great unit. It's not going to be a huge night&day difference as some are expecting. The YT videos are a pretty good indicator of that. I describe it as giving your mix a nice final polish. The mix is the paint job, Fusion is the clear coat. So if the paint job ain't good, fusion won't help make it much better.
The Polish on a mix. Love it!
It’s everything they say it is!
This guy right here is the secret sauce.
every module on the ssl fusion sounds great! mastering grade eq filters the half compressor does smooth out top or mix (or any material) very well. Vintage drive and density make adding weight to the sound easy and the harmonics come to life. But once you hit that Stereo Image and then the Transformer you’ll see how special this thing is. I will mix h til i’m happy and then send out to the fusion, and each time i hit bypass i miss the fusion greatly.
Definitely a must have. Ever since adding this to my arsenal about a month ago, I haven’t looked back. I add this on my preMaster bus along with the WA VCA Bus comp. glues everything together quite nicely. The stereo width that I’m able to achieve with the Fusion is INSANE and the best part is I don’t have to second guess any phase cancellation in the process. The deEsser is unbelievable, but best used in smaller doses, as too much can really shave off some of the high end. Best to do your deEssing beforehand and use the Fusion to hit it lightly. Works great in stems, and 2 tracks alike. This is definitely a keeper and my secret sauce that I use on EVERYTHING now!
This thing is really amazing. Just added this to my Digital in the box mixing studio and it just brings that realistic analog vibe to my room. A million times worth it.
I like it a lot.
The sound is great. Lots of subtle shifts that add up to a pretty big improvement. Really digging this thing as a final touch. Love the vintage drive, and the violet EQ, and my bus comp at the insert point is pure gold. My one complaint is the power switch is on the back, being racked makes it hard to get to, since I'm trying to not run it all the time, like when tracking. I have to get behind the rack to get to that switch. Small inconvenience considering the huge amount of positives. I definitely recommend this unit.
I definitely love the SSL Fusion. You could tell when your music has been processed through it. Adds width, depth and color. Definitely was a needed purchase.
The best hardware for a budget!
It's one of the most interesting pieces of outboard gear I've used in the last 10 years!
Such a gorgeous unit. Brings breath and life into the stereo bus, and the power of having individual modules for sonic sculpting is pure genius.
If you could only buy one piece of outboard gear for a hybrid setup this is probably what you should get . Only change I would make is putting a power switch in the front instead of that back for easier access, and separate input and output meters.
This unit is pretty smacking / subtle too it depends corrective as well - when all tools are used
This is a subtle unit... but what it does do is amazing. I truly love this piece of gear, a very useful addition to the studio.
Milosh
