The Soyuz SU-013 Small Diaphragm FET Condenser Microphone is the newest member of the Soyuz family. In a break from tradition, the SU-013 is available in both Soyuz signature cream and brass and in black, for applications requiring a less visually conspicuous appearance.
The SU-013 features a carefully designed, low-noise Field Effect Transistor topography and the rich sound of custom in-house created and crafted toroidal transformers.
The SU-013's classic internal transformer design creates a detailed sound that is robust in the lower frequencies, rich in the midrange, and silky smooth in the upper register.

Great mic! I love the high definition and detail to subtle differences on timbre and dynamics. I use this mic to record violin.
Rad
Although this mic didn't perform as well as a KM84 on the snare, it was a dramatic improvement over a 57. On acoustic guitar and mandolin, though, this mic really shined. It captured the warmth and tone of the body while still getting all of the shimmering highs. For the money, this mic great.
Fantastic replacement for my KM184’s and 451B’s. Thanks Josh!!!!
It has a lovely sound and after two years of extensive use in every possible instrument, it has proven a very flexible microhone.
Very detailed but never harsh
There are only two cons:
- The provided clips do not tightly hold the microphone it can accidentally fall (has happened in my studio)
- It is noisy!! at least 10db noisier compared (in real world) to a KSM184. So even when it sounds lovely on acoustic guitars, it will be evidently noisy when the guitar is softly played (i.e. arpeggios).
