Merging Technologies VAD (Virtual Audio Device) is Merging Technologies' RAVENNA/AES67 driver for macOS. It allows any DAW such as Reaper, Logic, Pro Tools, etc. to connect to a RAVENNA/AES67 network (via a network adapter), to record or playback audio just like you would through a simple USB connection to the computer. The VAD Standard license unlocks 64 I/O at 44.1/ 48 kHz. VAD Standard supports a limited subset of all latencies supported by VAD Premium (see features).
VAD STANDARD is great for simpler tasks such as connecting a laptop to an AES67 network, for example next to a LAWO console for recording or playback up to 64 tracks.
VAD main settings can be configured through a simple GUI in macOS system preferences. The required number of I/O, latency and sampling rate can be specified to optimize CPU activity. Connections can then be made using a web GUI, to and from senders and receivers.
