The Franklin Audio MP-10 is a pedalboard-ready mic preamp that lets you run any microphone straight into your effects chain. It combines a transparent, high-headroom mic preamp offering 60 dB of transformer-balanced gain with an XLR mic input, a 1/4" TRS output for connecting to amps and pedals, and a dedicated mic-thru output so you can blend dry and processed signals live or in the studio. Plus, the standard 9V pedal power supply provides phantom power for condenser mics and signal boosters. Whether you want to run your vocal chain through your favorite delay, overdrive a snare mic, or reamp any microphone, this mic-to-instrument preamp makes it easy to add pedal sounds to acoustic sources.
The MP-10’s balanced XLR Mic In and Thru jacks let you insert a microphone into a pedal chain without losing the option of a clean signal for mixing and recording in parallel. Whether you're performing vocals live or recording acoustic instruments, you can plug any dynamic, condenser, or ribbon mic into the Balanced XLR microphone level input and use the mic thru to send an untouched copy of the source to a mixer, interface, or monitor system. The transformer-balanced input provides common-mode rejection for super-transparent sound even over long cable runs, while the Thru output maintains proper impedance for use with external mic pres.
The MP-10’s ¼" unbalanced instrument jack allows you to send instrument-level signals from your mic to guitar amps and effect pedals. With a standard unbalanced tip-sleeve configuration, the instrument output is ready to plug right into your pedalboard, amp input, or reamp box. Because the MP-10 outputs your mic signal at the same level and impedance these devices expect to see, you can use any mic you want with great results. Use the gain knob just like the volume control on a guitar to fine-tune your input level and hit the sweet spot for perfect breakup or saturation tones.
Powered by a standard 9V DC power via a center-negative supply (2.1 mm), the Franklin Audio MP-10 is compatible with almost any effect pedalboard. Simply engage the 48V switch to supply phantom power to condenser mics and mic boosters for low-level microphone signals. You can even use it as a standalone power supply with an external preamp.
The MP-10’s custom preamp was engineered specifically for mic-to-pedal use, offering 12 – 60 dB of transparent gain. The generous gain range gives you the flexibility to set the ideal gain staging for delicate condenser mics that need a clean signal, or crank the preamp to push your gear into overdrive for creative effects. Adjust the large gain knob to find the sweet spot, or engage the -20 dB pad to accommodate different microphone types and loud sources.
Built to survive touring and heavy use on stage and off, the MP-10 features a heavy-duty 1.5 mm folded steel enclosure with a compact footprint that fits easily on a pedalboard. The chassis protects internal circuitry from knocks and stage wear, while the simple front-panel controls and clear indicators minimize setup time and learning curve.
