The REMIC Mics V 5200 LB condenser microphone is designed for extreme loud live productions and delivers a natural, but more “dry” and “woodish” sound response in comparison to the “Studio/Live” model.
The “LB” model represents the highest suppression of ambient sound-sources ever achieved by a condenser microphone. So if you need a microphone with low acoustic feedback response, the V 5200 LB is the answer.
At the same time the microphone will maintain the aesthetic appearance of the instrument towards your audience, since there is no clamps and clips in order to mount and hold the microphone, you also retain a full and undisturbed view of the fretboard.
The V 5200 LB is also suitable for other violin related instruments such as Hardanger fiddle, Hardingfele, Nyckelharpa, Drejelire, and Hurdy-Gurdy.
I found that these mics needed a bit of gain to get going, but they sound fantastic! They will feed back (they're not feedback proof just because their "live mics") Taller performers who stand while they play will need to adjust if completely wired, the xlr cables are just a little short & the xlr connection will end up hanging in mid air 5 to 10 inches off the ground (which is unfortunate)... but perfect for musicians who are sitting while playing. I own a Bass mic, two cello mic's, a viola, and two violin mics... they are all 20x better than any sort of pick up i've heard on string instruments... and they don't need to be attached to the instrument with a clamp, which is excellent! The cords are soft, and will not hurt instruments... The Musicians we mic'd up with these were very pleased with they way they went on, and quickly learned to put them on and off themselves. (I'm buying more)
