An analog summing mixer is a great way to add some warmth and character into your digital mixes. By using analog outputs from your DAW interface, you can easily sum, process, and print stems of instrument, vocal, or effect groups. Vintage King offers a wide variety of summing and line mixers. Whereas some like the Rupert Neve Designs 5059 satellite offer simple functionality, some have feature advanced controls such as the Dangerous Music 2-BUS+.

For the most polish on your mix, look into a summing mixer with advanced processing capabilities. Some summing mixers can add variable harmonic distortion, width to the overall mix, and added transformer warmth to make it sound like an analog mixing console. If you have a simpler setup, and just looking to add a little polish to the mix, something like the Dangerous Music 2-BUS LT or API 8200 might be the better route, both models only do analog summing with no additional harmonic or dynamic processing.

Summing and Line Mixers come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from two channels up to 30 channels, and can be expanded upon beyond that. A project studio or small mastering facility might be better off with the two channel options, where a larger music production facility might look into eight or sixteen channels to start out with. For music production, a 16 channel is a great choice, and gives you the ability to sum an entire mix into eight analog stereo stems. A summing example could be drums, percussion, bass, guitar, piano, vocals, and effects.

Vintage King offers rack mountable summing and line mixers, as well as desktop options you can really put your hands on. Rack mountable is a great option when traveling with a small rig, making it easy to get your home studio tone, without the real estate of a large mixer. Summing Mixers come in a variety of connection types, from ethernet, USB, even wireless.
