Studio Monitor Amplifiers

We can't find products matching the selection.

With technological advancements in the digital world, and lines being blurred between quality analog and digital gear, more and more emphasis has been placed on having a high-end pair of studio monitors. Choosing the right monitor amplifier is critical to the sound and performance of your studio monitors, and as a mixing or tracking engineer, the right monitor amplifier can make or break how your mix translates to other listening environments. If something isn’t sounding right in your room, upgrading your monitoring amplifier could solve all your problems.

Start by picking an amp that is a good match for your speakers. First look at how many sets of speakers you want to power, then how many amps you want to power the setup. Vintage King offers a wide variety of setups, from super clean single channel amps where each speaker will have its own power source, dual channel amps that can cover both speakers in a mixing rig, or four channel amps to power two complete sets of speakers. Two channel amps are the most common as one or two spaces in the rack will power both monitors.

Make sure you check the wattage of your intended speakers before choosing an amp. Underpowering a speaker can make them sound thin, and could possibly blow the speaker, making them sound way worse than before. You typically want a monitoring amp to be around 30% more powerful than the speaker. This provides you with plenty of headroom and an increased dynamic range. You can add a desktop monitor amplifier that will drive your speakers and provide a separate headphone out - which is an ideal setup for a project studio, or home setup.

Most amps come with multiple connector types, most common being XLR and ¼”.

Once the amp is in place, a good crossover is necessary to make the speakers accurately playback specific frequency ranges. A quality crossover will determine how the signal is sent out from your speakers' drivers, sending high frequencies to the tweeter, midrange to the mid driver, low to the bass driver, and sub frequencies to the subwoofer. Vintage King has many options from top brands such as Bryston and Crown that can fit any studio's needs.
