The Ohma World Motif Condenser Microphone MK2 is the clearest expression of what makes an Ohma microphone unique: a studio-grade condenser whose sound, structure, and visual design work as one system. It delivers a rich, detailed tone with a smooth, extended frequency response, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of sources like vocals, voiceover, podcasts, streaming, guitar amps, drums, brass, and acoustic instruments in both home or professional studio recording environments. The Motif screen is a key part of that sound. Its geometry helps shape the microphone’s response acoustically, adding focus and polish while keeping the sound natural and dimensional. The result is a condenser mic that feels finished the moment recording starts: clear, balanced, and detailed, with a controlled low end that keeps close sources clean, defined, and mix-ready.
Built with vintage-inspired FET circuitry, a Cinemag transformer, and Ohma World’s hand-tuned capsule, the Motif Condenser brings together classic studio microphone character and modern flexibility. It is built for engineers and artists who want a microphone that can handle serious studio work while still feeling personal, distinctive, and classic in its own right.
The Ohma Condenser’s sound begins with The Debby, Ohma World’s original edge-terminated capsule. Hand-tuned at the company’s East Los Angeles workshop, The Debby shapes the mic’s tone, detail, response, and feel, giving the Motif Condenser its natural depth, polished top end, transient clarity, and smooth musical character. Rather than cloning a famous vintage capsule, Ohma World designed its condenser around a voice of its own, one that feels rich, smooth, detailed, and unmistakably Ohma. The Motif Condenser pairs The Debby capsule with the Motif screen to deliver natural depth, smooth detail, polished presence, and a controlled top end.
The Ohma Condenser includes a built-in 16.5 dB pad switch located on the back of the microphone, under the bottom screen. Unlike a pad on a preamp or audio interface, which lowers the signal after the microphone, Ohma’s pad is placed between the capsule and the microphone electronics. This helps prevent the internal circuit from overloading before the signal ever reaches the preamp. That means users can place the Motif Condenser closer to loud, bass-heavy sources like guitar amps, bass amps, drums, brass, and other high-SPL instruments that might otherwise clip the microphone. With the pad engaged, the Motif Condenser can handle up to 133.5 dB SPL, giving engineers more room to experiment with placement, proximity, and source volume.
Ohma World microphones use magnetic swappable screens that let users change both the look and sound of the microphone in real time. Each screen functions as an acoustic filter, shaping the microphone’s frequency response so users can move between different tonal directions without changing microphones. The screens attach magnetically, making changes quick, clean, and tool-free. Users can move from a more open, room-forward sound to a tighter, more focused response without changing microphones, making the system especially useful for studios, engineers, and creators who need one mic to cover more ground.
Top screens affect the sound of the microphone, while bottom screens are visual and can be customized for logos, branding, or aesthetic expression. For best sonic performance, the front and back top screens should match. The same magnetic screen system also allows each Ohma microphone to work with the Ohma Pop Filter, available separately. Purpose-built for Ohma Ribbon and Ohma Condenser microphones, it snaps directly into the bottom screen slot without a clamp, gooseneck, or additional stand. Fixed spacing helps maintain consistent close-mic placement, while hydrophobic acoustic fabric and a micro-lattice backing help control plosives, mouth wind, and moisture before they reach the ribbon transducer or condenser capsule. It gives singers, podcasters, voiceover artists, and close-mic users cleaner capture in a compact, fully integrated setup.
Additional screens allow users to expand the microphone over time instead of outgrowing it. It is a modular system built for flexibility: one microphone, multiple tonal directions, integrated accessories, and a look that can change with the studio, artist, or session.
