A good dynamic mic locker is essential to every recording facility. Vintage King offers a variety of dynamic microphones that will suit any of your recording needs. Whether you are miking a snare drum, miking an electric guitar, or looking for a great vocal microphone, the experts at Vintage King can certainly steer you in the right direction. A dynamic microphone can handle extremely high sound pressure levels, making them the first choice when miking anything loud.
Vintage King carries a variety of leading dynamic microphone manufacturers such as Shure, Sennheiser, Electro-Voice, AKG, Beyerdynamic, and Telefunken, Blue Microphones, Audix, RODE, and Audio-Technica. Use the classic Shure SM57 for miking a snare drum, or miking a guitar cabinet. The Sennheiser MD421 has been an engineer's first choice for miking toms for decades, mainly for their big low end and mid-range presence. Get the classic rock kick drum sound by using a large diaphragm dynamic mic like the AKG D112, pair that with a Shure Beta 91 to add more attack and presence to the kick drum. The Shure SM58 is a sound engineer’s first choice for a live vocal microphone, add one to your microphone locker for only $99.
The most common polar pattern for dynamic microphones is cardioid. A cardioid polar pattern primarily captures sound from the front of the microphone, and rejects sound from the rear and side of the capsule. This makes a dynamic microphone ideal for a live vocal microphone, or on any source you want to have the highest possible isolation. Dynamic Mics are also commonly available in hyper cardioid and super cardioid polar patterns such as the Gefell MD 110 or the Sennheiser E609. Both hyper and super cardioid microphones are extremely directional at the front of the mic, but pick up small amounts of signal from the rear of the microphone. This could be used in a recording studio to capture the direct signal in front of the microphone, but also capture a little bit of the room behind the capsule. Although uncommon, some dynamic microphones are available in omnidirectional and figure-8 polar patterns.
