NOT JUST FOR PIANO

In addition to being one of the best piano kits available on the market, the DPK 4011 is ideal for unobtrusive spot miking, such as hanging or table use. The mic has a length of only 3.5 cm (1.4 in) and a low-key appearance. It features an integrated cable solution allowing it to be hung from the ceiling to create precise and repeatable positions and angles when spot miking orchestra sections or ambience atmospheres.

PLACEMENT AND USE

Due to the compact design of the microphones, they fit perfectly inside both upright and grand pianos at all desired positions. Both open and closed lids. The numerous fitting options contained in the kit allow for a wide range of mounting and placements, including hanging, fixed X/Y or ORTF. In addition, with the enclosed stereo boom, A/B positioning is also possible. The kit includes a shock mount that also acts as a swivel joint for fixed mounting on mic stands or with one of the enclosed magnets for internal placement.

4011 CARDIOID MICROPHONE

The principal appeal of the 4011 cardioid microphone is its directional quality and attention to detail. This mic makes everything sound like the original. The first-order cardioid pickup pattern provides superb separation between sound sources. It is equally suitable for close-up work on acoustic guitar, grand piano, overheads, percussion, wind instruments and vocals as it is for spot-miking symphonies. It can manage incredibly high sound levels. A flat on-axis frequency response and excellent phase response deliver a faithful reproduction of the original sound. The off-axis response is similarly smooth so that any leakage is an accurate reflection of the original, though attenuated according to the true first-order cardioid pickup pattern.
